"I am sure that these guys are able to do drywall work well. Especially where making a mess does not matter such as in new home construction. My experience on my popcorn ceiling removal project was not good. The guys did not know how to scrape a popcorn ceiling so I sent them a video. They also did not know how to paint. They made a very large mess and I had to clean up after them. Experience matters. In Spanish, because they didn’t speak English well. Estoy seguro de que estos tipos son capaces de hacer bien el trabajo de paneles de yeso. Especialmente cuando hacer un desastre no importa, como en la construcción de casas nuevas. Mi experiencia en mi proyecto de eliminación del techo de palomitas de maíz no fue buena. Los chicos no sabían cómo raspar un techo de palomitas de maíz, así que les envié un vídeo. Many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can hold up to environments with some level of moisture, such as bathrooms—especially peel-and-stick wallpapers made of vinyl or polyester. However, if you’re considering wallpapering a bathroom that sees a lot of moisture, like a kids’ bathroom or a full bathroom with a steamy shower and inadequate ventilation, even the highest quality wallpapers will peel.

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

While you could conceivably select any paint finish, paintable wallpaper tends to look its best with a flat or eggshell finish. A higher gloss paint might make the texture pop more, but it can look a bit dated once the paint has dried. And don’t worry about whether a water-based latex paint will loosen the wallpaper. Paintable wallpaper has a coating that prevents this from happening, so using latex paints without applying an oil-based primer to seal things first is fine.

You should always use a primer before painting over wallpaper to help the paint adhere correctly and get a good finish. Not all wallpaper can be painted over, so do a test patch in an inconspicuous area before painting an entire wall. If the primer and paint don’t adhere, you’ll need to remove the wallpaper, prime the wall, and then paint.
