I decided to call Vogel, which I'd used in the past for other vehicles, and they immediately put me at ease. They made me feel important, and taken care of right from the start. After asking me a few questions, Gene - the service person I worked with - told me over the phone that he was concerned about my safety in my present vehicle, because the collision with the truck had crushed my headlight. "We'll get you a loaner, so that I can look at that headlight. Whatever else is wrong with your car, we can at least fix up that headlight for now." This was even before I agreed to give them my business. I drove to Vogel, and they gave me the keys to a brand new Chevy Impala (far nicer than my own car). They said I could use it for the next few days while they took a good look at my car and developed an estimate for the repairs. It didn't matter that I'd need to drive their car to work and back (120 mile round trip) every day. Just return it with the same amount of gas. It took them almost a week to get me the estimate (it's a busy place). I didn't mind because I was having fun driving that Impala. When I got my insurance company's approval (Vogel's estimate was about $300 lower than my dealer's), Vogel couldn't fit me in to actually do the repairs on my car for another three weeks. This meant I had to drive my bashed in vehicle for a little longer. But what Vogel had done while examining my car was make it safe and presentable. They fixed the headlight and punched out the worst of the dents. They had also washed off all the mud and salt from Wisconsin's horrible winter highways. They loaned me another nice Impala while they did the repairs, which cost about $3,500. When I got my little Elantra back, I was thrilled. It was gorgeous. Like new. It looked better than it had before the accident. Both the outside and inside (which they must have vacuumed) looked immaculate. They gave me a little handout for taking care of the new paint job. Don't go through any car washes for a month or so, etc. I have fallen in love with my car all over again, and I owe this to Vogel's great work. They sure know what they are doing when it comes to auto body work. They also know how to provide great customer service. They made me feel valuable. My dealer, a much larger shop, could take a few lessons from this locally owned shop in Kiel. It wasn't a cheap job due to the water damage, but I knew that going in. He is very courteous, listens to questions and suggestions, and is very responsive to your concerns. Clean up at the end of the project went beyond my expectations. I let his crew use my heated work shop for cutting trim and siding out of the cold, and it got a pretty good covering in saw dust. Darin shop vac'ed the whole place out after they were done! The quality of work done appears to be top notch. He used high end materials to flash the new windows properly. He worked with me to fit the exterior window trim, and then pull it down so I could prime and paint it, myself, in my work shop. I'm pretty obsessive over details, and it's hard to find folks like that in the construction trades. Darin is one of those guys. We reviewed several websites and visited numerous stores getting prices and narrowing our options. We came close to working with one designer who had some good ideas, but just couldn't quite get on board with our $8-10K budget.Once I stopped and talked with Phil Lewin late in April, our plan started to come together fast. By working with him, we quickly got our former builder on board for the carpentry and drywall, found a new plumber, and started the ordering process. This all tied in with a glass block window and solid surface vanity top with integrated sinks from Lowe's (also a great experience). The only speed bump was having to wait an extra week for the right tile installer, but this was due to timing and delivery on other items. It was worth the short wait to have an expert do the job.Target date for completion of the bath was the end of June as we had guests coming for the long 4th of July weekend. It was 99% done on July 2 and the plumber and carpenter even came on July 3 to do the final touches! We have now heated ceramic tile floor and a custom walk-in shower (no door) and all the quality we hoped for. Our carpet was installed a few days later and we couldn't be happier with the result. We wouldn't change a thing. He explained that they had just been purchased by Van Reede's. Upon examining the dryer, he explained that the heating unit was operating fine and that he thought the noise was coming from the ball bearing which appeared to be worn. He told us it would cost $180 in total for that repair. The "Trip charge" would have been $59.95, because we were outside of their service area (if inside the service area it would have been $44.95), and there would have been a minimum Labor charge of $25.00, totalling $84.95 if no repairs were made. After replacement of the ball bearing, which required substantial help by me (I don't know how he would have finished if my wife was the only one home) the dryer was not improved at all. The repairman then concluded it must be the motor that was causing the noise. A motor would cost over $300, and would have to be ordered as they did not have any in stock. I complained that he was charging me $180 for no improvement, and he said the part cost only $16.95, to which I responded he was charging me $95 more than the minimum for no improvement. Furthermore, he recommended we buy a new dryer rather than spend the $300 + labor as a new dryer might only cost around $300. He further recommended we run the dryer until the motor fully breaks down. What a terrible first experience with Angie's List. After paying the one year membership fee, being convinced by a customer service representative that the network was in place for my zipcode, I had to call the first seven recommended Appliance repair companies before I contacted one that would travel to my home address. And they (Van Reede's) charged me an extra $15.00 to make that trip. It wasn't Van Reede's that showed up, they didn't fix the problem and charged me $180 for nothing! I'll write-off the Angie's List membership as I don't think I can afford another high cost non-fix referral. I'll never use Van Reede's or Howie Voight's Appliances ever again and I will tell everyone I know about my first and last experience with Angie's List and Van Reede's newly expanded appliance repair service!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/wi/oshkosh/van-vreede%27s-appliance-elect-reviews-5812951.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Landmark Landscapes Inc","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"WI","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Sarah J."},"reviewBody":"The project was a breeze from start to finish. joe was prompt with calling us back right from the start and the great customer service continued throughout the project. They worked unbelievably hard everyday, right through the summer heat. The level of work that they produced still amazes us. Landamrk was very concientous about where they stored the construction materials during the project, and were never really in the way of our daily lives. The crew cleaned up the site each night, which really helped keep the dust down. They even used a special \"wet saw\" that kept all dust from stone cutting to an absolute minimum. after the project was completed joe took the time to walk us through our new outdoor living space and teach us how to care for all of the new plants, and what to watch out for. We were so impressed with the quality of Landmark work that we have since hired them to take care of the lawn and gardens on our property, and they have never looked better. Heating Oil questions, answered by experts
Yes, many providers offer organic or eco-friendly treatments. Confirm availability with your contractor.
NATE-certified technicians may charge slightly higher service fees compared to non-certified technicians. This is because NATE certification signifies a higher level of expertise and professionalism, often leading to more efficient and effective HVAC repairs and installations. While the upfront cost may be marginally higher, NATE-certified technicians can potentially save you money in the long run by reducing energy consumption, preventing frequent breakdowns, and extending the life span of your HVAC system. When looking for a local HVAC company to hire, it never hurts to ask about NATE certifications.
Regular inspections, loop flushing, and checking heat exchangers help extend system lifespan.
Most HVAC companies charge a flat service call fee of between $75 and $150, which includes traveling to your home and inspecting your system to find the underlying problem. Keep in mind that these prices only include diagnostics and the actual repairs will usually be billed separately. If you’re calling for routine service, the service call will be included in your inspection and tune-up, with the total sitting around $150. Your prices could be a little higher if you have a very large home with multiple condensers and air handlers, as inspections and servicing take longer.
The most obvious downside is the high upfront cost of buying and installing one of these systems. Additionally, sometimes the system can take a longer time to heat than alternatives like a boiler. Also, if something goes wrong with the geothermal pump, repairs are often significantly more expensive than repairing traditional, above-ground heat pumps.
