Kegonsa Plumbing was founded in March 2018 by Luke Elsing. After 13 years of plumbing experience, he was exposed to several different owners and management styles. Luke decided to be a different kind of business and prioritize doing what’s best for his customers over his own profit margins. By sourcing only the highest quality products with solid warranties and doing craftsman-quality work on every job, Kegonsa Plumbing earned an A rating on Angie’s List in our very first year of business.

"We used Kegonsa Remodeling for a major kitchen renovation in a nearly 100-year-old house. Before the remodel everything in the kitchen looked cheap and worn down (think 1970s brown, everywhere!), and the overall arrangement of the space was really inefficient. They came in and proposed a design that was the best balance of affordability and ideal features out of half a dozen contractors we interviewed. Once we began working with them, they provided consistent updates and met with us on a regular basis, enough so that even with unavoidable pandemic slowdowns, it still felt like the project was always moving forward. Once the remodel began, they had nearly daily updates for us on what was coming next, and the project actually finished ahead of schedule! Now we have a kitchen that has at least 3x the workspace, a significantly improved flow, and easily twice as much storage as our previous one did. We get compliments all the time, and recommend Kegonsa's work any chance we get!"

We are not tied to any specific PV manufacturer and will source the best solution for your location and situation. Solar energy is no longer idealists' domain - it makes solid financial sense. Drews Solar is a one-man business, where each project receives my full attention. I cover all aspects of the business, including site visits, design, installation and customer service. My customers appreciate the ease of working with the same person every step of the way, and I think you’ll feel the same. I show up on time, am easy to contact throughout the process, I set realistic expectations with customers, and never cut corners with my work. I treat each home like it were my own – my installations are clean and sleek, and I choose quality equipment that is highly-reliable and looks good on your home.

"Mike and Maria Drews promptly and informatively answered the many questions we emailed them. Mike came to our home in order to prepare a formal bid, and he spent about 45 minutes assessing every aspect of the roof, house, garage, basement, electrical panel, internet, asking loads of questions to ensure he knew what we wanted. Drews started the installation right on schedule, and it went as smoothly as any home project we’ve ever had done. Mike and Maria were in regular communication with us all the way through, answering questions and offering explanations, and they went out of their way to make sure we felt heard and got the answers we needed. The crew was prompt, courteous and very, very competent. They did a stellar job of the installation, got all the required city inspections done, got the MG&E sign-off on the installation, and did a truly superior job of cleaning up the job site each day. Drews Solar is simply the best there is - local, competent, ethical and terrific!"

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

You can install solar panels on a flat or pitched roof, but keep in mind that they will need to rest at a 30- to 50-degree tilt for optimal sun absorption. It costs more to install solar panels on a flat roof because you will need to install a framing system and likely hire a structural engineer. If your roof has a pitch of more than 40 degrees, it may not be a good candidate for solar panels.

The average homeowner needs around 22 solar panels, but the exact number depends on your monthly energy consumption. Your solar professional should size your array to offset your consumption, meaning you’ll need fewer panels if you use below-average amounts of electricity, or more than 22 if you use above-average amounts of electricity. The number of panels also depends on the output of each panel. The average is around 400 watts, but you might need more panels if you install less capable equipment. Since there are so many variables, you should have a professional size your system.

Solar roofing shingles may qualify for significant federal tax incentives through programs like the Residential Clean Energy Credit, which offers up to 30% of installation costs through 2032. State and local governments often provide additional credits, and utility companies may offer further rebates or net metering programs, depending on the state. Just look into the qualification requirements beforehand because installation, documentation, and technical standards can impact eligibility. Consult the current guidelines and a tax professional to maximize available benefits.

The best way to save money on solar panels is to take advantage of federal and state solar incentives. For example, the solar investment tax credit (ITC) offered by the federal government can save 30% of your total—if you can take the entire credit, which is based on income taxes owed—or an average of around $9,000. You can check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) for state and local incentives that could save you even more.

For most U.S. homeowners, switching to solar energy is an excellent investment. A properly sized solar array can significantly reduce your electric bill, saving money on utilities every month. Most homeowners enjoy savings that cover the cost of their solar systems within 12 years and then turn a profit. Additionally, federal and state tax incentives are available that help make solar an even better and more profitable investment.
