"I cannot say enough great things about Ted. He is everything you want in a contractor/carpenter: punctual, honest, fair, hardworking, detail-oriented and very skilled. He has an excellent work ethic and is incredibly reliable. He starts a project when he says he will and works continuously until the project is complete. The final outcome of his work was excellent and he was a pleasure to be around and have in the house. We had no concerns at all about him working on projects while we were gone. The one risk is that once he is in your home you won't want him to leave (i.e. Ted - could you find time to finish the fireplace mantel? could you add trim around this door?). If you have an old house you will find endless jobs once he is there:-). The main projects he completed for us was to add custom trim to the top of our kitchen cabinets, which were then painted; he demolished an existing front closet and built custom mudroom lockers including drywall and floor install; and he built a kitchen banquette. The quality of the work is exceptional and we will definitely have him back for additional projects. I have tried to post before and after pics and hopefully you can see attached to this post."

You should spray garage door lubricant on its important mechanical parts, including the hinges, rollers, springs, bearing plates, lock, armbar, and, potentially, rail. Do not lube the tracks, though you should clean these regularly for optimal performance.

Most heat in a garage is lost through air leaks in windows, doors, and walls. This is especially true if the walls are uninsulated, which is common in garages. Consider insulating your garage before installing a garage heater to ensure the heat it generates isn’t wasted, making it less efficient.

A garage only counts toward the official square footage of a house if it’s livable. The exact legal requirements for what’s considered living space can vary by location, but heating and ventilation are often required for it to be counted. If the garage is converted into an extra room, it may count toward the total square footage. 

If you plan on heating your garage, you must install a vapor barrier when drywalling the garage. A vapor barrier protects your garage from frost and mold that can occur through condensation. If your garage is unheated, you don't need to install a vapor barrier. The only exception is if you regularly crank the heat in your car before getting in it. In this case, you may still want to install a vapor barrier, as your car can heat your garage.
