"The beginning was fine, Direct communication. Everything they said they would do was done. During the move, We had a TV Break. I reported it to them that night and followed up multiple times. Tried calling as well as email/messages. We paid 700+ in cash just like we said we would. We are left with a broken tv and now theyre not responding. We had a agreement for $440 for 3 hours for a 2 man team. If it went over 3 hours it was $110 an hour after that, We ended up paying over 700 in cash right when the move was completed."

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

Around half of Americans hire professional movers, while the other half DIY their moves.

Tipping movers is not mandatory, and most professional companies do not expect it. However, it is a common way to show appreciation for their hard work and the care they take with your belongings and home. A standard tip is between 10% and 20% of your total bill, split among the crew, or about $10 per mover per hour, tipped individually. It's an especially good idea to tip if the movers work in difficult weather, handle specialty items like pianos or pool tables, provide extra packing services, or go above and beyond your expectations.

Gym equipment can be heavy, so it’s best to transport it using a furniture dolly. When dealing with treadmills, weight machines, or other bulky items, hiring professional movers or roping in some friends and renting a moving van makes sense.

It is certainly possible to move a piano without hiring movers, but it’s not recommended. Not only will you need at least four people to lift and maneuver the piano, but getting it around tight corners and down flights of stairs might not be possible without the help of movers. Plus, pianos are exceptionally heavy and bulky, which means you and any helping hands are at risk of injury, as well as an increased risk of damaging your piano. Ultimately, it’s always worth it to call in a professional piano mover.

No, homeowners insurance does not typically cover moving expenses. Homeowners insurance provides coverage and pay-outs if you experience damage to the home you currently live in. You’ll need to save separately for moving expenses like hiring movers, renting a tow truck, or shipping your belongings.
