"The team at Current Electric was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Work was performed well. Communication and punctuality were top notch. My only minor complaint is they are on the pricier side of electrical contractors. But with most work you get what you pay for."

"Paul called me within two hours of submitting a service ticket. He listened to the issue I described and gave me a service date within 7 business days. Upon arrival, he identified incorrect wiring in regards to three pole switches. At my request, he made the outlet "hot" all the time and non-dependent upon the master and companion dimmer switches. He was able to access a junction box in our attic to re-purpose the existing wiring and was completed with all work in approximately two hours. He was kind enough to spend fifteen minutes providing free quotes/estimations for a couple other electrical projects that I've been thinking of (i.e. - piping more outlets in my garage, installation of a ventilation fan in a bathroom, etc). 10/10 would recommend for electrical work, I'll definitely be calling him again. I originally booked the first electrician that got back to me through Angie's List, but had to go with North Shore Electric because I was getting a Master Electrician at half the price. Paul is well worth the time and expense!"

"Electrician was on time, respectful, and patient. He verified what we wanted before getting started, double checked before adding additional outlet, had the final project checked for accuracy, and cleaned up everything! The job was quick and precise. I'd recommend this company to anyone. Reasonably priced and quality work! You can't go wrong."

"I hired them for some electrical work at my home and was impressed right away with how straightforward and honest they were. The pricing was very fair compared to other quotes I received, and they took the time to explain exactly what I was paying for so there were no surprises. The technician arrived on time, worked efficiently, and clearly knew what he was doing. Everything was completed to a high standard, and you can tell they focus on doing quality work rather than cutting corners. It’s not easy to find someone who balances good pricing with solid workmanship, but they nailed both. Overall, great value for the money. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking for dependable service at a fair price, and I wouldn’t hesitate to call them again."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The standard voltage for United States power outlets isn’t shared around the world, and neither is the shape of the power connector. This is why you need travel adapters when spending time abroad. Where the United States typically uses 110/120V outlets, outlets in Europe typically use 220/240V. Power outlets can vary in other ways around the world, too. Not everyone uses the 60Hz frequency, for example, and not everyone even uses AC power in outlets. Always do your research when traveling to see what you need.

Single switch installs are quick DIY projects, but you should consider enlisting the help of a pro for more complicated replacements—like a smart switch or if you live in an older home with outdated wiring. Professional electricians are trained in the latest code regulations. They are also insured, licensed, and bonded.

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

Three-way switches are only replaceable with three-way switches. A single-pole switch won't work if you replace one or more of a pair of three-way switches. By electrical code, three-way switch configurations are necessary at the top and bottom of a staircase between residential floors.

The size of the microwave you choose may change this answer, but for standard over-the-range microwaves, 120 volts and a three-prong grounded outlet is needed for your device.
