"Excellent work. Phillip's team did a ceramic tile surround, wall repair, tile to carpet transition, and crown moulding. Everything beautifully completed in an incredibly efficient manner. I highly recommend PROFI."

"All I can say is Wow! Jake did an amazing job on our master walk in shower tile and our tub surround tile. He also was so helpful tiling our kitchen back splash and incorporated and designed the tile from around our fireplace into the backsplash! He did an amazing job and was so awesome to work with! I would recommend him to everyone!"

"Great service! There are lots of similar business out there, many with deceptive coupons and promised discounts, but HEPA is a honest, straight forward business that does high quality work for a reasonable price. Alex and Zach were on-time, worked hard, and left my ducts, carpet and furniture spotless. Highly recommend!"

"Honestly I had to work but my husband was there for the install. He was very pleased. I did get a call from the warehouse when they were on there way with the carpet, so I called my husband and let him know. He told me it was 3 guys and they were respectable. It took about 5 or 6 hours for every thing to be completed. In that time they did take a lunch and come back. I am very pleased with the results. I absolutely love the carpet. I love my house again. The carpet looks fantastic, the salesman Steve was wonderful and measured the carpet as a true professional. He explained all the things I needed to know. I can't say enough about how great my new carpet looks and feels. The pricing was by far better than the 2 other quotes I received in the past. Steve also honored a coupon for being a Angie's list member which couldn't be beat. I would and will definitely use them again in the future. Feel free to use my name as a referral.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

On average, tiling a shower costs between $1,800 and $5,000, with most people paying around $2,700. The price of this project depends on multiple factors, including the kind of tile you choose, the size of your shower, and labor rates in your area. If you decide to tile your own shower (instead of hiring a professional), it’ll likely cost $800 to $1,400.

Most professional shower tile installations take between six and eight hours, depending on the size and complexity. Most projects get completed in a single workday. DIY-ing the project takes around three to four days or roughly 16 hours. However, this will vary based on the skill level of the person completing the work.

Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.
