"I was looking for someone to de-thatch my yard of just under an acre. I had someone lined up that kept giving me the no-show treatment, and then wouldn't even return our calls. I went to Home Advisor looking for someone local to give my business to. I found a long list of companies that said they would do the work. I started through the list making contacts on a Saturday trying to get someone lined up to de-thatch and remove rocks from my yard. I filled out a form for Moze and clicked send. Before I even filled out the next one on the list Mike called. Out of the 5 companies I contacted on the list --- 2 returned my request for service; Moze and 1 other. The other company contacted me on Monday, but told me I lived outside their service area. Mike's crew showed up when they said they would, did an outstanding job, and at the price that Mike quoted to me on Saturday. It was refreshing to find such a professional and courteous company that did the job when they said they would, at the price they said they would do it for. I couldn't be happier, and I will definitely call Mike for other yard maintenance jobs that I have."

"Mat did a wonderful job at laying out the system and installing it according to his design. He was on time and on budget. We had bids from another installer and Mat was right there on price and actually included a few things that were not on the other bid. I would not hesitate to have him do more work for me as he is as honest and sincere as they come. Glenn Griswold"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can absolutely transplant bushes instead of removing them completely. The success depends on the size of the bushes, their age, and the transplanting season. Ideally, transplant during the dormant season (late fall or winter). Dig out the entire root system in one piece, fill the new hole with fresh soil and mulch, and water thoroughly after planting.

A window flower box should be deep enough that there’s room for a wide selection of plants and the required amount of soil and gravel. Standard flower boxes are 8 inches deep and 8 inches from front to back. Larger is better to increase the variety of plants in the box, but you could run into stability issues as it increases in weight.

The best time to plant a tree is in the spring, so the roots have time to grow into the surrounding soil before winter sets in. Some people recommend planting in the late fall. However, planting in the spring reduces the stress on the tree, as it will be emerging from dormancy, giving it the full spring and summer ahead to acclimate and put down roots into the soil.

As much as you might try to keep a healthy, nutrient-rich lawn, you still may notice signs of St. Augustine decline (SAD)—a viral disease that discolors your grass blades. St. Augustine decline looks like:

  • Discoloration in the leaves (chlorosis)—leaves appear yellow and splotchy

  • Decline in growth

  • Leaves turn black within 3 years

  • Grass appears less vibrant

  • Grass begins to thin

  • Root rot

  • Grass takes longer to recover

A half inch above ground level is ideal for metal edging. This provides enough depth for the edging to hold in place and enough height to keep in most landscaping materials (like mulch or gravel). If you install edging too high off the ground, it will stand out from your landscaping and pose a tripping risk. If you install it too low, your ground cover won’t stay in place.
