"I was under the impression that I should be getting 24v, which is what the thermostat needed. The technician informed me that the voltage was correct and that the 24v that I was expecting was incorrect. Turns out the system was working correctly but the technician was able to get the 24v to the thermostat by connecting another wire, already available, to the "common" terminal of the thermostat control panel on the furnace and then hooking it up to my thermostat and all was fixed."
