"Woke up to a terrible sound coming from my furnace.  Called Healthy Home at about 8am and they said someone was finishing up a job and would be there in approximately one hour.  At about 9am, Scott showed up at my house.  I explained the issue to Scott and he quickly went to work and determined the blower motor wheel needed to be replaced.  Scott was able to find the part in town and have my furnace back up and running better than before all before 11am!  Scott was very professional and showed me and explained everything that he was doing.  Scott went over the different options and prices before moving ahead with the work and I never felt pressured or rushed to make a decision.  This is the first time I have needed HVAC work at this house and I know that my furnace will need replacing in the coming years.  I will definitely call Healthy Home back for additional service and to talk about my replacement options.

"I would say extremely good to not so good depending who comes to work. We had a problem with the dishwasher one time and a guy came to fix it. He looked at it and said it was fixed then he left but actually it wasn't fixed. Another guy came again and he said it wasn't fixed because they never replaced a certain part so when he replaced that part, everything was fine. The responsiveness is pretty good. Professionalism is excellent. They were polite and knew what they're doing except for that one guy only."

"The technician did an excellent job. It did take a while to get the repair finished, but that was due to Bertazzoni delivering the parts. I have had multiple problems with this particular appliance. My range now works better than it did when new, but I have a feeling that even if I have continuing problems with it, American Home Shield will just repair rather than replace due to the cost of the range. By the way, I'm not exactly sure of the date of the repair."

Boiler Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally safe and effective to turn off radiators in unused rooms to save money on heating costs. This practice is especially beneficial with older heating systems. However, you should avoid cranking up the thermostats on the remaining radiators to compensate, as this can lead to higher heating bills and increased wear and tear on your system. While some HVAC specialists argue that modern, efficient boilers are designed to heat the entire home and work best when all radiators are on, turning off radiators in unused spaces still reduces the total amount of hot water your system needs to produce.

Leaks, pressure loss, air in the system, burner failures, and thermostat malfunctions are common problems that require professional repair.

After you receive your audit and report, review the findings and determine which of the prescribed changes you want to make to improve your home’s energy efficiency. Start by contacting the type of professionals recommended by the auditor who can help you remedy the issues discovered during the audit. Prioritize the projects by urgency, importance, and budget. Then, gather estimates from several professionals, remembering to verify any necessary licensing and experience information.

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.

At a minimum, an HVAC system should be serviced once per year. However, a twice-a-year service schedule—once in the spring for the cooling system and once in the fall for the heating system—is often recommended, especially for older systems, heat pumps, or in climates with extreme temperatures. Regular service, which includes inspection, cleaning, and maintenance, ensures the system runs efficiently, helps prevent costly breakdowns during peak seasons, and can extend the unit's lifespan. You can also schedule a service if you notice issues like poor performance or strange noises.
