"First, they were recommended to us for the whole house generator by home depot.  We were so happy with the generator that we had him do a bathroom fan at my house and a bathroom fan at my son's house.  I did some checking and that was a reasonable price.  With the work he did, it was more than reasonable.  The job was a little more involved than he thought it would be and he didn't have any problem with any of it.  Without anything to judge the pricing from, other than online and a couple of guys I had come over who weren't on the same page as me, I'd say excellent.  The quality was top of the line.  As soon as he got the generator, he got over here to put it in. As a matter of fact, I am thinking about calling him again for something."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Avoid delays by booking a licensed professional early, as the local contractor pool in WI is limited. You must coordinate directly with your municipal utility for specific interconnection requirements before starting your generator installation. Apply for necessary building and electrical permits well in advance. Schedule your concrete pad work before mid-October to beat the ground freeze, ensuring the project stays on track.

Helpful?

Build a strong routine by checking your concrete pad for frost heave damage before and after the harsh Antigo winters. In the spring, inspect conduit seals for freeze-thaw wear. Test the automatic transfer switch before summer thunderstorms arrive. Finally, clear away any overgrown vegetation or debris from winter road salt. A licensed professional will ensure your generator installation remains safe and ready for the next storm.

Helpful?

You should combine your generator installation with an electrical panel upgrade, especially if your Antigo home has an older system. Adding whole-home surge protection at the same time protects against thunderstorm-related power spikes. If you use propane, upgrade your fuel lines and tank capacity simultaneously. Grouping these exterior and electrical projects requires fewer inspections and prevents reopening sealed walls or trenches later.

Helpful?

Prioritize your generator installation immediately if your household relies on medical equipment or a private well pump. You must also act quickly if autumn is approaching, as concrete work becomes impossible once the ground freezes in WI. If you have alternative heating sources and the ground is already frozen, use the winter months to plan and secure permits for a spring project.

Helpful?

Start by verifying your property jurisdiction to determine the correct zoning setbacks and permit requirements for your Antigo home. Contact your local utility early to get their specific connection rules in writing. Hire certified specialists to handle the electrical permits and scheduling. Complete any necessary trenching and concrete work before October to avoid the deep winter frost, ensuring a seamless generator installation.
