"Initial work was great on the glass & screens. The work inside the window panes was neglected, leaving a lot of dirt. Was guaranteed steam cleaning, but did not happen. Before i could checl the work, the group left my house. I spoke with the owner after the completion, letting him know I was not satisfied & the steaming did not happen. He made things right & sent the entire crew back to complete the steam cleaning. He did not charge me more than the initial quote. I definitely appreciate the effort to make things right as he had initially sold his services. The workers on site were very friendly."

Windows questions, answered by experts

New window installation costs range from $300 to $1,500 per window, depending on size, material, and energy efficiency features.

It is generally recommended to remove window screens for the winter, especially in climates with heavy snow, freezing rain, or frigid temperatures. Removing them helps prevent damage to the screen mesh and frames that can be caused by ice and moisture buildup between the screen and the window. Taking out the screens also allows more natural light and warmth into your home during shorter winter days and makes it easier to clean your windows thoroughly. In warmer climates where harsh weather is not a concern, the decision is more about personal preference; some homeowners prefer the clearer view, while others leave them in for convenience.

Expect excavation below grade, creating a well for access, weatherproofing, and thorough inspections during setup.

In short, it depends. After 20 years, the glass in your windows is less energy efficient, which can cause increased electricity bills. You might also see signs of water damage or natural wear and tear over the years. However, with proper maintenance, some window frames can last up to 50 years, so you may only need to replace the glass to save on energy.

At the same time, window replacement is a major investment, so replacing the glass in rooms most impacted by outdoor temperatures is one way to avoid going all-in to replace your windows.

The biggest disadvantages of low-E windows have to do with cost and, depending on your personal taste, appearance. Low-E windows cost more than traditional windows—typically between $300 and $1,000 per window, plus installation costs. Though they can save you money in the long run, low-E windows have a hefty upfront price tag. Additionally, low-E windows have a slightly different look than traditional windows. While some people don’t notice it, others say the low-E coating gives windows a hazy look.
