They never tell you when they are coming. Just scheduled and hope you can let them in. Tech was great but call center and customer service is as bad as it gets. Rude and dismissive"

"Moved into a new house, discovered some evidence of mice. Schopen came to the rescue! Setting an appointment was easy, the tech arrived on time, was friendly. He did a visual inspection inside and outside of the house and patched possible entrances around the foundation. He set traps and bait stations and then came back for a maintenance check. No major evidence of intrusion--the holes they filled outside worked! I am keeping them on for maintenance and adding a spider and bugs b/c they give a single fee for maintenance on both--which is a great deal. They also have an account portal on their website so clients can track spending, notes, and appointments. One national brand came and tried to upsell me--saying that I needed them to install a barrier around my house because of some issue with my siding ($2000!) and the cost of their annual service was double Schopen. I highly recommend skipping the big-name brands and going with this family-owned business."

To keep animals out, you must prevent them from entering. As long as they can get in, the problem will persist. That said, consider making your attic less inviting using deterrents like motion-activated lights or ultrasonic devices. Squirrels hate not having access to secure shelter or food sources. Your best line of defense is to make your property less attractive by removing access to these things. There are chemical squirrel repellents, but these have mixed success. Deer rely on scent to tell them what’s safe and unsafe, so effective deer repellents have to be pungent. Make your own natural repellent by combining a beaten egg, one tablespoon of cooking oil, one tablespoon of dish soap, and a half cup of milk. Pour it into a spray bottle and spray around your garden, avoiding anything you will want to eat later. This stinky repellent will ward off any deer that want to make your produce their next meal. But keep in mind that if your windows are nearby, the scent may waft over.

Spiders are not typically attracted to bedding as a primary source of food or shelter, but they sometimes inadvertently end up there. Spiders can hitch a ride on your clothing, belongings, or through open windows and doors. The underside of a bed, especially if it's near a wall or corner, can provide such a sheltered spot where they can hide and build webs. Dust and clutter under your bed can create ideal hiding places as well. If your room has other insects like flies or mosquitoes, spiders may be drawn to the area in search of prey. 

While they can be effective at getting rid of bed bugs, there are risks of using bed bug pesticides if they’re not applied properly. The EPA only approves products that meet safety standards, but misuse, such as applying spray to skin, using outdoor products indoors, or overusing products, can pose serious health risks. Always read and follow label instructions carefully. For the safest and most effective results, it’s best to hire a licensed pest control professional.
