"Moved into a new house, discovered some evidence of mice. Schopen came to the rescue! Setting an appointment was easy, the tech arrived on time, was friendly. He did a visual inspection inside and outside of the house and patched possible entrances around the foundation. He set traps and bait stations and then came back for a maintenance check. No major evidence of intrusion--the holes they filled outside worked! I am keeping them on for maintenance and adding a spider and bugs b/c they give a single fee for maintenance on both--which is a great deal. They also have an account portal on their website so clients can track spending, notes, and appointments. One national brand came and tried to upsell me--saying that I needed them to install a barrier around my house because of some issue with my siding ($2000!) and the cost of their annual service was double Schopen. I highly recommend skipping the big-name brands and going with this family-owned business."

There are several possible reasons for a gnat infestation, and they vary based on the type of insect. One common reason is overwatering houseplants, which can create a moist environment that is attractive to fungus gnats. Another reason is leaving fruit out on the counter for too long, which can attract fruit flies. Drain flies are typically attracted by standing water and bacteria that are often the result of buildup or a clog in your drain or sewer line.

If the cat is stray (you noticed a collar or other signs of domestication), the kind thing to do is to try and find the owner. Call around to other neighbors to see if they can lead you in the right direction. If you can get close enough to snap a picture, try posting an image of the cat to local community groups and pages on social media. 

If the cat is feral, you can try to humanely trap them and participate in a local shelter’s TNR program. Before attempting capture, call around to local rescues and shelters to make sure one near you does participate in a TNR program. They may even be able to catch the cat for you.

The average lifespan of a stink bug is about six to eight months, depending on species and environmental conditions. Their life cycle includes three stages: Egg, nymph, and adult. Eggs hatch in roughly five days to two weeks, followed by a four to six-week nymph stage where they grow and molt. Once fully matured, adult stink bugs focus on reproduction and can fly to new areas, often seeking refuge in homes in search of warmth.

Moles live underground and feed on insects. They dig and move through tunnels, usually in meadows or forests but sometimes in lawns and gardens. They are about 6 inches long with large claws, tiny eyes, and hidden ears. 

Shrews do not dig their own tunnels but will use other animals’ tunnels, and are about 3 to 4 inches long. They look similar to mice and feed on insects.

Voles are similar in size to moles but have large eyes and small but visible ears. Rather than eating insects, voles are herbivores that prefer seeds, grasses, and plant roots.
