"Fast, polite and efficient. Those are the words that sum up my experience with Mike Bailey and his crew. I had several tall cypress trees fall during a recent storm and was concerned more would do the same soon with the potential of damaging my home or my neighbors. Mike came out, gave an estimate, and was able to do the job within three days. On the day the trees were removed his crew worked fast, were extremely efficient, and did a great job cleaning up given the snowy circumstances. I would highly recommend this company."

"Grant was on time. Got back to me with details about the job in very prompt fashion. He limbed some precarious Alder trees. AND he landed the branches with minimal damage to the extensive garden of plants under the trees. Great price and very clean quality work. He cleaned up everything and completed the job as discussed. Highly recommend him to anyone needing tree service."

"Fantastic! Mike and his crew were absolutely top notch. Arrived on time, professional and the yard clean up was impeccable. I've had other tree service companies on site, and Mike set a new standard for how tree removal should be done. Give these guys a call. You won't regret."

"I am impressed by the professionalism of the workers who took care of a nasty job with a maple tree stump growing thru a chain link fence. The 2 worked quickly and efficiently. Love the "grindings" in the garden."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

There are several signs that may indicate a tree needs to be cut down. These include visible damage to the trunk or branches, a hollow trunk, extensive storm damage, or a significant lean to one side. Other warning signs are pest infestations or the tree growing too close to a house, power lines, or other structures. It is best to hire a professional arborist to inspect the tree, as they can determine if it can be saved or if removal is necessary.

Light-bark trees are most notorious for producing lots of sap when wounded. These varieties include maples, birches, poplars, dogwoods, magnolias, and elms, and they will bleed more when the trees are dormant. That’s why it’s a good idea to prune them in the summer months rather than waiting until winter.

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

Tree roots don’t necessarily break through concrete on their own, but they can certainly take advantage of existing cracks, even very small ones. As roots grow, they expand the cracks, making them larger and leading to serious and costly foundation damage. It’s a good idea to have repairs on any foundation cracks you’re concerned about.
