The only problem (a minor one) was that the stain on the top railings decided to peel so we replaced those top railings with the composite material instead of wood and there was some delay to this fix (which was purely cosmetic and did not impact our use or enjoyment of the new decks).
We absolutely would use Travis Bradburn again for any construction needs. He is a very pleasant, hard-working individual, who communicates well.
Very few do I want to work with again. I'm picky, moderately knowlegeable, and have high expectations across the board.
I might be considered "high maintainence". (Not unreasonable, or cheap mind you, just ... involved .)
Simply put, Jake Duffy is one of the best I've ever dealt with!
You get the price of some of the more economical bids of a group who wants to work ( I had 6+ bids some were insane)
But you get the service and attention of being a "Price is no object" customer.
I've experienced both.
The amount of questions and explanations and changes I put Jake through is almost embarrassing. But for the life of me I cant remember him showing the least bit of frustration.
If you are considering Duffy & Bradburn for a job,.. My advice,.. meet Jake. (didn't get to meet the parther)
Honest, Knowledgeable, Direct, and does what he says. (that last bit is big)
He (and therefore Duffy & Bradburn GC)
1. Helped me find an excavator to do some rather tricky work to prep for the deck expansion, and they were awesome. They rushed to help me and charged me very conservatively. In no small part because the request came from Jake.
2. Helped me locate an architect/designer to work with to get professional designs and help with the permit process. (again, I truly believe they did better work, for less because it was for one of Jake's clients)
3. Helped me decide on size and materials for our deck (which he was exceptionally helpful with.. never trying to force anything, just educating me on pros and cons, and price differences. each time with an updated estimate)
4. Had a team out to demo and remove old deck quickly,
5. As soon as I had locked in my desires, it was less than a week before the hammers started swinging.
6. Followed up with exceptionally minor fix (silly fix) the same day the building inspector noted it, so I was able to schedule the second and successful inspection a matter of days later.
7. Has continued to help refer me to good people for other services, all who love him and try hard to keep him as a good refference. (That's big)
8. He may even help me himself on a tricky job I haven't been able to find anyone to do. (that's pending)
In Short, Jake is now "My Guy" to goto first .
I read the other reviews before hiring him, and saw that they both fit my acceptable exclusions (and any smart reader):
One was a mistake of missed communication that was acknowledged and appologized for.. (It happens.. to everyone) But they owned it and apologized it.. They didnt just blow it off.
The other is clearly either a crank, or more likely playing smear politics for another company, Why else would you write a scathing review ending with a Plug for another company? That's bogus, I can almost guarantee it. And using the phrase "Insurance Scam" is a liable act. and even according to that guys story, billing for 5k, when insurance will only pay 2.5K sounds about like every insurance claim I've ever handled. The days of Insurance "Overpaying" is long gone. They lowball everything. So the fact that there is money owed in addition to the insurance payout sounds normal unless the insurance company is the one who hires the service. Again. Rediculous.
Ask Jake for my number as a referral. I have no problem referring him.
Until Lighting Strikes me,. "Jake's My Guy".
Jake's was only the second bid we got, and the first one was over $30,000, so I felt Jake's, which was $16,000 minus taxes, was darned reasonable. And, he didn't skimp on anything. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.
On a side note, the person on here giving Jake an F sounds like a crank with an agenda. Read wisely ...
Trying to run an insurance scheme at Lake Wenatchee this past winter when a bunch of trees came down from the snowfall. They went door to door wanting work, a neighbor recommended them as they built his garage, so I unfortunately let them have the job. Travis Bradburn stood in my driveway and agreed that it was an insurance job and that he wasn't getting a dime from the homeowner, and he shook hands on that. They thought insurance just paid whatever they submitted, & tried to submit over $5k which any insurance group would laugh at for 4 trees, as they only pay by the linear foot of the trees. Insurance adjuster came up prior and took measurements and pictures, and figured 4 trees was worth about 2500. We also discussed taking down a leaner tree near the garage, which adjuster said we could fit in the bill, but they didn't want to do the extra work but tried to submit the bill like they did do extra work. They are learning the hard way that insurance jobs don't hand out blank checks. Now thinks he can submit the remainder of the frivolous claim to the homeowner !! What a joke. No contract, craw-fishes his agreement, and thinks he can put an un-stamped bill in my mailbox, which is a federal offense, that just shows how stupid he really is. Now my goal is to bad mouth this joke of a company to every local I know & see. If I can deter one homeowner from using this company, my goal is reached. If anyone needs trees removed from the Leavenworth / Lake Wenatchee area, please use Robert Ferral, or Tracy Grundland. Those 2 are the best around, and wont try to screw anyone. Don't use these greedy companies that want to take advantage of locals.
"We don't do [Member Information Removed] work and we certainly don't scam anyone. This fake review is not appriated."
My wife has stage four cancer and wanted to get the old deck replaced in the summer so we could use it with the family.
She joined Angie's List and got the names of three contractors who did decks in our area. I scheduled an appointment with two of them (one wanted $75.00 to bid the job - I understand it would be refunded IF we went with them - but decided to get the non cost bids first).
My suggestion is ask questions and see what material options are available. Jake apparently does a lot of decks so he has seen a lot of decks and knows what works well.
I am having Jake and company do a repair on the side of the house (now that the deck is in we can see the water damage to the window sills. Again, listen to the contractor - he make an improvement suggestion that will definitely improve the long term performance of the repair (on using a molding with a slope and drip line to move water away from window (the original construction design is not great - but I anticipate the improvements will make it much longer than a simple replacement would).
