"We contacted Time with Louis Electric on a Saturday when my elderly parents well went out. They have horses and other livestock and it was very important we got them up and running. It was determined that the wiring to the pumphouse was bad. Tim was on a job Saturday but agreed to come out Sunday. He quoted us a very reasonable price and came earlier than expected, after calling to make sure that worked for us. He was able to find the problem in a mess of wires running from a pole to the pumphouse and shop and fix them. He went the extra mile and made sure that all the wires had good connectors, etc. He was extremely professional, did a great job and was extremely reasonable in his costs as well. I would recommend Louis Electric anytime for electrical work. Very nice guy and great service."

"Wattzu (Trey) wired our shop, well and an outdoor outlet. We were very pleased with their work, prompt and professional. I’ve worked with several electrical contractors in the past and can tell you these guys are some of the best. Their pride of craftsmanship was obvious (nice straight wire runs, connections and terminations). I would not hesitate to recommend them for any electrical work you would require. Their communication was great and prices were fair, In fact they will be wiring our new house this summer."

"I am actually a Residential Electrician and technically Nate & Ericâ s competition. However, I have known Nate for many years and used to work with him at a different company, before we opened up our own businesses. These guys are exceptional electricians, with skills, honor, integrity, and straightforward pricing. I recommended them to some of my pre-existing customers when my Schedule was overloaded. They did not disappoint. They went over and did an amazing job for my customers. Well, they are probably not my customers anymore. ð Thank You Nate & Eric for helping out a fellow electrician and working with such diligence to get the job done! Give GoBright a call for all your Residential Electrical needs, and theyâ ll treat you like family."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, electric-start snow blowers need to be plugged in to start, but you can unplug them and go once they’re up and running. Simply plug the snow blower into an outdoor outlet and press the start button. Once it starts, you can unplug it and use it freely. The idea for these types of snow blowers is to simplify the starting process from the typical pull-string starts.

Hire an electrician the same way you would an employee. Ask questions and look for a good fit. Streamline the process by using these questions to ask an electrician. It's also common to ask for a quote in writing. Don’t forget to provide all the project details to ensure there are no surprises or opportunities for added fees.

Typically, when a 3-way switch only works when one switch is on, this is one of the most telltale indicators that the switch has gone bad (although this could also be the result of faulty or loose wiring). To diagnose the issue, toggle each switch until the light comes on. Once it’s on, toggle each switch separately again; the switch that doesn’t turn the light off is the bad switch.

Services by electricians can quickly get expensive, but there are a few ways you can save money in the process:

  • Bundle multiple jobs done at the same time to save on trip fees or flat fees for individual projects.

  • Get at least three quotes for service to find the best deal.

  • Buy fixtures, switches, outlets, and other materials beforehand to avoid product markup.

  • If you feel comfortable with it, have an apprentice or journeyman complete the work under the supervision of a master electrician. These electricians in training tend to charge less per project.

The best place to put an electrical outlet depends on your needs. A good rule of thumb is to install outlets every 6 feet in large rooms. Hallways over 10 feet long need one electrical outlet minimum.

If you find yourself needing extra plug-ins for all of your gadgets, you may want to increase the number of electrical outlets in your room. When adding outlets, keep in mind that older homes could have outdated electrical panels. In these cases, you may need a pro to upgrade you from 100-amp to 200-amp service before increasing the power load.
