"Overall, well. Initially, they wanted to schedule us out a month. Although we didn't need an immediate repair due to the hotter weather, we wanted to get the dead furnace fixed sooner than later. They scheduled us for about two weeks out, which was acceptable. A day or two later, they called and said they had a cancellation and could come out a few days later. They were right on time; prompt and efficient in completing the diagnosis and the repair. The cost was a bit higher than expected, but not unreasonable. "I had an appointment to get my ancient gas furnace tuned up and I have to say, the technician Kevin did an excellent job. I I could give him more than 5 stars I would. It started with how nice and polite he was. He put a mask on when I asked without giving me a hard time. This is very appreciated. Then he noticed something was not hooked up (the fan only function) and he fixed it. Then he noticed the holder for my filter wasn't seated right so he fixed that (which was no small amount of work), and then he cleaned two areas of the furnace I NEVER saw anyone else clean in the 15 years I have lived here. Then he cleaned everything up and made sure to explain everything well and made sure I was happy with everything. I cant even believe the excellent service. On top of that he was quick, efficient but did not make me feel rushed. This ancient furnace is working better than it has in years! Do not hesitate to go with Smart Electric - they are top notch - oh yeah - on top of all of this great service, the price was $100 less than other companies I had out to do the same job! The other companies charged more and did less. Smart Electric just got a customer for life. I highly recommend!!!"

"Quick and efficient. Brad and Rob did a quick and clean install. We had a split AC in place and they got their electrician out quickly and he made the fix in the electrical panel. They sales rep had a bit of a problem with bringing up the financing on his computer, but, it all worked out."

"I requested service online the night before and they called me around 9 a.m. the next morning to schedule the job for that same day (between 10-1). They then called about 15 minutes later and asked if they could show up early around 9:30). Great punctuality! The tech, Elliot, did a superb job. He explained everything to me in very thorough detail and checked and rechecked the system after every adjustment he made. My AC unit wasn't plugged into my furnace correctly and was only getting about half the volume of air needed. He fixed that as part of the maintenance cost. I needed a new air filter badly, and so I bought one from him. It was marked up 2-4x the cost of an equivalent one online. He also found a capacitor that was on the boundary of being within suitable voltage. He told me it would probably last another year if I was going to have maintenance again next year, but I had him go ahead and replace it for about $175. Maintenance fee was $199. All together a little shy of $500. It felt a little high, but he spent 3 hours at my house. I appreciate him taking his time on the job and being thorough."

"Insulation Co., LLC did an excellent job in cleaning and repairing our crawlspace. All old, torn and worn-out insulation was replaced, holes and gaps were sealed, and a new vapor barrier was installed. The repaired crawlspace looked like new."

"The have been very satisfactory. They are an American Standard dealer which has Trane I think. I just went ahead with that equipment so I didn't shop. They were good because actually they didn't tell me to replace the furnace that is there. They had to take it out to get a new coil. So, they didn't try to sell me a new furnace. That's a real plus because I wouldn't know. They were there right away. There punctuality was very good too. They were right on time. There professionalism was very good.
  They have a repair man that really knows heat pumps, which is not east to find these days. They are very complicated. When you have a system with a heat pump, it's a very complicated system. They really repair people and they need to go out to school. The people I was with, they really couldn't handle a heat pump. I was glad to drop them. But this is just not like the old gas type furnace that was easy to repair. These systems are very complicated. I would use them again because they are my Heating and Cooling people. No doubt. I wouldn't think twice."

"I believe I was the first Angie's List member to post a review on Jack of All Trades, a few years ago now. Since then he is my go-to guy whenever I need anything done in my home and I have called upon his services several times. The first time Jack came to my home was to look at a door that needed to be installed, a job two other handymen/contractors had declined because it was beyond their skills. Jack's response then was "There's always a way." That sold me.
On this last visit, Jack and Ethan knocked several things off my list all in one day. Some of the tasks were things I might have been able to do myself, but they're so much quicker and better at it. I had built a cover for the crawl space access, but the plywood I used wasn't lasting long. Jack picked up a sheet of marine plywood, which should last longer in our wet weather. They had it constructed in short order and had time to put two coats of paint on it. Jack also took the initiative to add two handles which will make it much easier for me to deal with. I appreciate things like that about Jack. He's always thinking.
The ceiling exhaust fan in the kitchen was probably the original one installed when the house was built in 1954. It didn't do much for removing smoke or steam. I purchased a new replacement fan, with the idea of having Jack swap them out, but I was disappointed I couldn't find anything close to my old retro-looking fan with the metal grate. After climbing to the roof and into the attic to check out how the old fan was installed, Jack determined it might be easier to rework the old fan since it fit into the ductwork so well, and to clean the filter at the roof level. Cleaning the filter alone made a big difference and another contractor might have stopped there. But Jack and Ethan disassembled the old fan, discovering some frayed electrical something-or-other and did not advise reinstalling it as is. So they took apart the new fan I'd purchased, using the motor and fan blades from the new and the mounting rack from the old and they were in business. This also meant they could re-use the retro grate. I was a very happy camper.
Between the two of them they completed all the tasks in six hours, including the deck cleaning, hauling, door fixing and painting, working in tandem and separately as needed. I've always been impressed with Jack, and am impressed with his right-hand man, Ethan, as well. Both are quick workers, very friendly and professional. They take extra care to clean up after they're done working, leaving things cleaner than when they started. They know a lot about how to do a lot of things, and on the few occasions they can't do it themselves, will research to see who can. Such as replacing a wobbly wooden handrail on the front steps. When I mentioned that I would really prefer a wrought iron one, Jack said he knew where he could get some standard ones, but remembered that Ethan knows someone who does custom, more artsy iron work. So we'll check that out. Someone else might have just tried to sell me on the work to replace the existing wooden handrail.
I love dealing with people who actually listen to their clients, don't mind spending a few minutes getting to know them so they can better serve their needs, and think outside of the box. I've always found Jack of All Trades to do honest, thoughtful work for a fair price. I have no hesitation trusting Jack and Ethan, and know they will always come through with flying colors.
