"My elderly father, who felt pressured by the salesman went with new siding. Only one worker showed up though the whole process. He doesn't pay any attention to detail. We now have gaps, and tons of caulking everywhere because he doesn't use a tape measure. We found our TV antenna in the scap pile. And the huge issue is he just laid over our rotten siding and studs and called it good. All the sheets of plywood to replace the rot is now going back. Our family is embarrassed and we have to live with it. NE 83rd St. Vanc,Wa."

"We ordered a Covana SwimSpa cover back in July or August of 2021. They finally received the product from the manufacturer in March of this year. When the installation team came to put it all together they realized that the person who had placed the order with the manufacturer had missed the fact that the cover was slightly too large to make a proper seal. The installation guys, who were great by the way, said they would work with All Spa to get is sorted out (new parts to make it work). Anyway, it's been a month and the thing is still sitting half assembled in my yard. Keep in mind that this is a $10K cover left partially assembled and covered in a tarp. I've made 5 inquiries via phone to All Spa to at least get a status update but have yet to respond. It really just speaks to a major lack of professionalism to not even have the decency to let us know the status of what is going on. I don't usually leave reviews like this but I think that this certainly warrants a 1 star review."

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

There are a few signs, both obvious and not so obvious, that it's time to refinish your bathtub. While some of these signs aren't an urgent problem, others could lead to significant damage if left untreated. Signs you should look out for include:

  • Rust stains, which signal the tub's enamel or surface sealer is deteriorating 

  • Small chips, which can grow into larger chunks and can lead to rusting

  • Discoloration, which doesn't lead to a more significant problem but can be unsightly 

  • Dirty surfaces, which means that the tub glaze is breaking down and allowing dirt to seep below the coating

As with any project, refinishing your bathtub presents pros and cons to consider, such as:

Pros

  • The job is typically quick, and your tub is ready within 48 hours.

  • Your bathtub looks new.

  • You don’t need to tear out the old tub and replace it with a new one.

  • You can customize it with the color of your choice.

  • You can’t tell the bathtub has been refinished.

Cons

  • Refinished bathtubs can be slippery.

  • Not all refinishing products are created equal.

  • You need to wait up to 48 hours before using the bathtub.

Bathtub refinishing costs an average of $460 and includes removing the finish, sanding or acid etching the surface, priming it, and applying an epoxy coating. After the coating cures, the bathtub should look as good as new, and the finish should last between seven and 10 years. Because bathtub refinishing requires hazardous chemicals, you should call a bathtub refinisher to do the job.

Of the two most common and affordable bathtub materials, acrylic is notably better. Though fiberglass is cheaper, it is also more prone to scratching, chipping, fading, and cracking. Acrylic holds up better to wear and tear, cleaning, and sun exposure; the slight cost increase is usually worth the increased longevity.

If you don’t caulk your bathtub, then there won’t be a watertight seal between your bathtub and the wall tile surrounding it.
