"I had an emergency situation at my home where we partially lost power, and Unity went above and beyond in every respect! 1. They were able to send someone out the same day, and quoted me a $299 base fee. Every other electrician I called either said they were at least a week out, or had an emergency fee of $500 or more. 2. The electrician who came was SUPER friendly and helpful. 3. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem (it turned out to be relatively simple). 4. He then refused to accept even a partial payment, since the fix was so simple, and he was already in the neighborhood on another job. I will DEFINITELY call Unity again next time I need an electrician. Thank you!!!"

At Evergreen Home Exteriors we are all about our customers. Our philosophy is simple. We give customers the kind of experience we ourselves would want. Everything we have learned about customer service has been from our experience as customers and feedback from our customers over the past decades. We have developed a seamless communication system that allows our customers constant access to their project, no matter what phase of the process they are in. If you are tired of the mediocre service that has become the new normal, then give us a try! We will make you a customer for life!!
"As the GC for my own full home renovation, I was looking for a turn-key company that I could outsource and trust to handle the exterior work for my house (new house wrap, siding, and window/door installation). I was really optimistic about this company because they were a Hardie-certified installer. I hired them to install about 30 top-of-the-line Andersen windows, several exterior doors, and install all new Hardie siding and trim. Unfortunately things went south on day 1 and continued to spiral out of control. In a nutshell, I had three different project managers assigned to me throughout the project, and neither of them came on site once the project started (until the very end, and the last project manager was awesome... kuddos to him!). The first crew that came on board were subcontractors, not Evergreen employees. When they started to install my windows, I knew immediately that they did not know how to properly flash a window sill (they had gaps in the Vycor flashing, didn't wrap the sill properly, etc. etc.). I called this to the PM's attention but nothing was done. The crew installed all windows in one day, not properly flashed. Crew was retrained and came back to "fix" them, but still didn't properly flash them. Meanwhile, they were taping the seams on our house wrap in the rain, when the house wrap was wet, so nothing stuck and had to be redone. Fortunately this crew was let go and I was told they were going to bring their "in-house" crew to finish. The next crew was awesome and they ended up removing all windows and reinstalling them. In total, each window was installed three times! As a result, some of the nail flanges and seals were broken. I called this out to the PM and owner of the company but did not get a response. From this point on, the crew that stayed on did a good job and was pleasant to work with (but I found out they were also subcontractors, not "in-house" employees as I was told up front). The delivery of a few windows and doors were delayed by about three months, which was my responsibility. I told all project managers about this upfront, including the first project manager before the project started. He said it was okay and that we could start the project and hold back a specific percentage amount of the project payment until they arrived so they could return to complete it at a later time. He and I agreed and the project moved forward. When the owner of the company, Jon Jordan, found out about the window/door delays, he was irate. His brother/GM and PM (who were both very polite and professional) called me and tried to negotiate a higher partial payment percentage rate which was absolutely frustrating to me. I explained to them that I had suffered for months through the project with extreme errors and redos, which caused mental angst, and that we had already agreed on a percentage on day one. Nonetheless, I was willing to increase the partial payment a little bit just to wrap things up. The owner followed up that evening by texting me in an aggressive, threatening tone. He said my only options were to allow them to finish the project immediately (which was impossible because we didn't have the remaining windows or doors), or pay them in full immediately and they would return after the doors/windows arrived a few months later. Otherwise he would sue me and put a lien on my home. He and I hadn't even spoken prior to that, and it was shocking to get such an aggressive text from a guy who never even heard my side of the story… I proposed to the owner that we cease the contract immediately, and that I would pay them for all work completed at that point. We agreed on how much work was remaining, and removed that amount from the contract price. We cancelled the contract, he had his remaining materials picked up and that was that. Again, I was hopeful for this company and wanted to have a great experience, but due to the poor project management experience, inexperienced subcontractors who caused damage and significant delays, and a sue-happy, angry owner who lacked professionalism and compassion, I could never re-consider hiring, let alone recommend, this company for any type of contracting work."

"Trust has been broken by nearly everyone I have talked to at Smart Energy Today/Lumio. It has been over EIGHT months now since my first signing with your sales representative, Josh Miller. Summer has come and gone, and we STILL have no working solar panels with zero communication from anyone in your organization on when this will be completed. The absolute TERRIBLE experience we've had was as follows: 4/14: Spoke with Josh Miller. We were told if we signed that night, we would be given 3 months worth of payments. Signed that night. 4/15: Welcome email received from Smart Energy Today with timeline saying target 6-8 weeks from finance approval with picture showing maximum timeline of 12 weeks, which would have been 7/15. 5/10: Got an email requesting for documentation with my name on the property. House is under my husband's name, so we needed to add his name to the loan. 5/24: Signed new documents with my husband's name on it. New maximum timeline should have been 8/24. 6/22: Solar panel was installed roughly around this time. After the install, I got a physical copy of a timeline showing a timeline maximum of 84 days plus one step that had a variable date range. New maximum timeline should have been roughly 9/22 without knowing what the variable timeline is. This was the final update to the timeline I got, so as far as we are concerned, this should have been the target date. 6/23: Inspection was supposed to happen in the morning. Waited until 1 in the afternoon with no one showing up and no word on when the inspector would be coming, we needed to reschedule due to work. I was told someone would call me back to reschedule, but no one ever did. I had to reach back out to Josh for help to get the inspection rescheduled. 7/2: Got letter from Service Finance Company that our first payment is due 7/28. We asked Josh about this since only the solar panels were installed, but our main panel which needed to be replaced due to age was not installed yet and was rolled into the loan. Josh acknowledged that this seemed odd and would look into it. 7/21: We got our first bill from Service Finance Company. Sent to Josh again, he said he'd look into it.8/16: Main panel replacement occurred. On the same day, we got a call from Service Finance Company that we are 19 days overdue and will be going into collections soon. Reached out to Josh again about this, and Josh promised he'd pay for the late fee. 8/18: Finally got a gift card from Lumio with the first three months of payments that Josh promised us. Since we had to resign the loan for a new amount since the main panel was rolled into the loan, the gift card was for 3 months based on the old amount, not the new amount, and it did not include the late fee that Josh promised. Was told I would get an additional gift card for the remainder by a representative who called me to confirm I got the gift card. 8/19: Got a survey from Lumio about the solar panel install. I took the survey and fully explained the horrible experience I had up until that point. The survey asked if I would like someone to contact me, and I said yes. To this day, no one has contacted me. 9/2: City of Seattle came to inspect expecting a Lumio representative to be present, but there was no Lumio representative. Josh said that no Lumio representative should be onsite. Via email, Jennifer said a Lumio representative should have been onsite. I told Jennifer Josh said this wasn't necessary, and Jennifer said there should have been. Rescheduled inspection. 9/13: Got a text from Jennifer saying I needed to schedule an inspection again, which made me think the previous inspection scheduled on 9/2 did not occur (error on her part). 9/17: Texted Josh asking for a follow up on the gift card. Zero acknowledgement. 10/12: Texted Josh again about the gift card. Josh texted me an email screenshot Alexa Gamble sent to Rachel, AJ, Catherine, and 7 other people for follow up. 10/20: Text from Ivie to schedule final electrical inspection for 10/27. I texted back requesting for 10/28, but didn't hear anything back from her. 10/28: No one shows up. 10/31: Text from Ivie saying that the technician had an emergency and her text to me never went through, now the final electrical inspection is scheduled for 11/10.11/4: Texted Josh about the gift card. Zero response. 11/10: Lumio inspection with Seattle City Light. Was told additional work needed to be done. It has been two weeks, and I have heard nothing back from anyone about when that would be scheduled or take place. This only includes the correspondence I've had in writing with your organization. This does not include the countless phone calls I have made to follow up with your inability to provide clear communication and follow through. In writing this and reliving the experience I had with your company, I am completely astounded by your organization's inability to follow up your customers. It's not just one or two, but multiple people who have dropped the ball with communication with us."

The average cost to install solar panels is around $26,600, and most homeowners pay between $4,500 and $53,000. Keep in mind that these prices don’t consider the federal investment tax credit (ITC), which can effectively reduce those costs by up to 30%. The price you can expect to pay for solar panel installation depends on the size of the system, where you live, the type and brand of panels, and the labor costs. Get price quotes from at least three solar companies in your area to find the best deal.
In most states, solar installers need to be licensed and insured as solar professionals, although some states don’t have specific requirements for installers. You can use our state licensing tool to check if an installer you’re considering hiring holds the proper licensing. No matter where you live, a member of your solar panel installation company must be a certified electrician to connect your panels to your home and the electric grid.
There are a few qualifying questions you should ask a local solar panel company before hiring them:
Will you handle permits for the installation?
Does your total price include the equipment and labor?
How long do you expect the installation process to take?
What kind of workmanship warranty do you include with your installations?
Who should I contact if I have a problem with my system after installation?
Do you install the panels or outsource the work to third parties?
Will you file for solar incentives for me?
In most cases, yes, solar panels are well worth the investment. Going solar with your home’s energy is expensive, but, in most states, the panels will pay for themselves by reducing your electric bills. Solar panels don’t produce greenhouse gasses or other pollutants, meaning you can feel good about using this renewable energy source to power your home. Plus, installing solar panels can boost your home value, helping your profit off your next home sale.
Yes, solar panel installation will require permits. The required permits will depend on where you live, as some states and cities have solar-specific permits, while others only require electrical permits to connect to the grid. In either case, it’s best to hire a reputable solar installer in your area, as a representative should handle all of the necessary permitting for you and will include the cost of the permits in your initial solar estimate.
