"John Perry underbid all others... with no plan to do the work at all. He preys on Senior Citizens! He requires half down. Sets up a date to supposedly do the work....then never shows up. Doesn’t answer his phone....then goes off when confronted. This is the absolute worst business person...born and raised in our area...to do business with. Always Painting and Restoration was the name of his business 3 businesses ago!!! He just closes them and gets a new person to back him then rips off more citizens. Beware of Always Painting and Contracting....his most current business name. The WALabor and Industries site shows a woman in Centralia as owner.... but This piece of work is just trying to figure out ways to rip people off but cover his butt as a limited liability partner. BEWARE!!! Do not shop the harbor first with this rip off!!!"

Yes, it is possible to DIY install drywall, but it is a deceptively complicated process that can be quite frustrating if you don’t have experience. Prepare to cut and screw drywall, leave the proper gap distance for any seams, never leave the end of a piece of drywall hanging off of a stud, and cut out around electrical boxes and switches. Plus, getting the drywall to look good is challenging, especially when taping and spackling. Beadboard is a decorative element and lacks the structural integrity of drywall. It cannot hold much weight and is not meant to be used as an insulator or moisture barrier, like drywall is. In almost all cases, beadboard is placed over an existing wall surface which, in modern days, is usually drywall, but decades ago could have been wood paneling.

Drywall anchors aren’t necessary if there’s a stud behind the wall where you’ll be working. Studs are strong enough to support screws on their own, but they don’t run throughout the wall. If you’re doing a project that involves the entire wall and not just one part (like hanging a small painting or photo), odds are you’ll need drywall anchors at some point in the process.
