"Dennis Harmon has some pretty amazing people that work for/with him. The outside of our home looks pretty amazing with the updated work they did on it...Thank you George and your partner for making the outside look beautiful. Hannah thank you for the wonderful paint job you did on painting the outside exactly how I wanted it. The remodel work in the Master Bathroom was done by Tally & Rick and they did the most amazing work! So precise and detailed.... my husband and I love what they did and are really impressed. We are looking forward to having our kitchen remodeled when the cabinets come in...so looking forward to working with Harmon & Harmon on all of our projects. We highly recommend Harmon & Harmon!! "I found my way to All Angle through Angi and I am so grateful that I did. I wasn’t quite sure what it was going to take to fix my rotting roof tails on my home, but after a thorough inspection from their crew of how extensive the problem really was, we hired All Angle to put a new roof on the house that included getting rid of rotting boards and plywood, new vents, flashing, asphalt tiles, fascia and gutters. Their price was fair and competitive for the work, and their crew was able to fix our problem in a quick and timely manner. They were great about taking care of and cleaning up my property during and after completion of the work as well. I will absolutely hire this company for future work in my home!"

"Andy went above and beyond to complete my kitchen and bathroom remodel. Even when we discovered mold in the subfloor from a leak he quickly got the plumbers out to fix the leak and coordinate with my homeowners insurance to start a claim. I would highly recommend hiring him."

Small jobs welcome

"Dalton and his crew were hired to build a roof over an existing deck and replace a rotting fence. From the get-go, they were professional and hard working. On time and efficient, they kept us informed every step of the way. The result? What seems like a beautiful new porch and yard! We even went on to hire them for an additional project, replacing trim on our home. And the cost? Quite reasonable! We highly recommend Elk Valley Construction, LLC!"

Home Building FAQs, answered by experts

While some highly experienced homeowners can frame a house independently, it is not advisable. You will need ample carpentry experience, a team of helpers, and professionals to sign off on your work to meet local building codes. For the safest outcome, we recommend buying or building a house with the guidance of professionals.

Green homes are often more expensive to build, averaging around $200 per square foot compared to the $150 per square foot you’d spend to build a standard home. However, green homes can save you money on your utility bills by consuming less energy or creating energy using solar panels or wind turbines on-site. They’re more expensive to build, but they often end up costing less in the long run.

Yes, you can finance new construction, though the process often requires a different type of loan than one for an existing property. There are several financing options available:

  • Construction-to-Permanent Loan: This is a common option where a single loan covers the building costs and then converts into a traditional mortgage once construction is complete and you move in.

  • Construction Loan (Stand-Alone): This type of loan provides funding only for the duration of the construction project. Once the house is built, you will need to pay the loan in full, typically by securing a separate, standard mortgage.

  • Builder Financing: Some custom homebuilders offer their own financing options, which may only require a down payment to begin the building process.

  • Bridge Loan: This can be a useful short-term loan to fund your new construction while you are in the process of selling your old home.

  • Home Equity Options: If you are building a second home, you might be able to use a home equity line of credit (HELOC) or a cash-out refinance on your current property.

It's also important to be aware that some lenders may have restrictions on financing for DIY house builds, so be sure to verify that you can secure financing before starting your project.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

A construction manager is particularly useful in the case of a large-scale build with custom design elements, so it’s usually worth it to hire one. They can help manage your budget, maintain quality control, oversee timelines, and navigate unexpected hurdles. While construction managers are pricey, they can actually save money in the long run by identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring the project stays within budget.
