My husband and I received three project referrals to add a sunroom onto our home. Greensun Constructions was the only Angi referral. We went with Greensun Construction because of Angi's reputation in the community. Dave, owner of Greensun, came to our home several times to view the scope of the project and to draft blueprints. On one of these initial visits, I asked Dave if he was able to start right away and he said, yes. He said, the job would take two weeks. On 5/20/24, COA's approval our project. On 5/21/24 at 1:05pm, I texted Dave to inform him we were ready to move forward with the project and to order the sliding doors. He immediately responded, asked if he could come over that afternoon to pick up the first payment ($5,000.00). I responded, yes. On 5/21/2024 at 8:38pm, Dave texted, "Cannot be there until later this week. My wife is in surgery tomorrow". I was surprise, Dave never mentioned that his wife was having surgery. Later we found out it was hip surgery (she had the other side done earlier this year). On 5/27/24, I checked in with Dave to see how his wife was doing and to ask his projected start date. He agreed to start on 5/30/24 at 9am. On 5/30/24 at 2:37pm, Dave did not shown up for the job. I texted him and asked if everything was okay. I asked to be kept in the loop. On 6/10/24, I texted Dave again requesting a start date. On 6/11/2024, Dave responded, "My wife still needs me 24-7 for another week (or two?). Slider doors are purchased and delivery is another week or two out". On 6/19/24, I left Dave a voice message, he didn't respond. On 6/20/24 at 12:49, I texted Dave the following, "Hi Dave, We left you a voice message yesterday asking for a call back. Didn't hear back yet so I'm sending this text to let you know we're headed out of town. Expecting to be back on 7/7/24. We don't want you to work on the sunroom until we return. Had you gotten started before we left, and we could see the direction of the project, we would not have had a problem with you continuing that work while we were out of town. Anyway, we're expecting that on July 8th you will have all the materials you need and prepared to begin work on our project. If not, we may have to look for other options. Hoping we can work together and get this project behind us.” On 6/20/24 at 4:45pm, Dave texted back and said that they would be ready to start upon our return. While on vacation, 7/3/24, Dave texted and said that the sliding doors are in and he will pick them up on Monday and be at our house around 9:30am. On 7/8/24 Dave dropped off some lumber and left, did not return. 7/9/24 at 10am, Dave arrived with 1 worker, but left at 11:20am to get a "special tool" to remove screws. Dave calls at 12:15pm, he’s on his way back to my house to continue work. He does return, but left the job at 1:50pm and did not return that day. This is how the entire job went. Dave and his workers would arrive between 8:45 - 9am and leave around or before 3pm. Some days they didn’t show up until the afternoon. On 7/26/24, I sent Dave a text message asking why he and the guys were not showing up on time and working a full day. He responded, it's too hot or the guys are older so they work slower. There were a few days that he/they didn’t show up all and I'd reach out to him and ask why. He’d say, “I’m picking up supplies, at the dump, the guys are staining the siding off site etc.” I kept a ledger for approximately a month documenting when Dave and his workers arrived and when they left. Dave gave his guys limited direction. When Dave left the job site, they didn’t know what he wanted done so they sit around until he got back or they’d say, Dave went to pick up needed supplies so they were at a standstill. It could take hours for him to return, the guys would tease him about stopping for coffee as the reason it took so long. Dave reconstructed the roof of the sunroom a couple of times trying to get it right. My husband complained because it was not done to the specks that he had drawn nor what we wanted. Two important features we insisted on keeping were the rafters on the ceiling and an A-line roof to match the existing shed roof. We got neither. He cut the rafters off and when we questioned him about it, he said the rafters can’t stay because it interfered with the roof line, but in the end he didn’t give us the roof we wanted anyways. We complained, but he kept saying, you’re going to like the finish project. Dave did not finishing the interior millwork (dry wall, carpeting, etc.) and when I asked him about it. He responded, “The price I quoted didn’t include interior millwork and he charged me an additional $500.00 for dry wall and to install the subfloor over our existing decking. Disappointed, but I agreed to pay the extra $500.00. We were still left to paint the room and installed carpet ourselves. On 8/5/24, Dave knocked at the door, I was on the phone. He sent me a text message that read, "I need to leave, I will call you later. We are done, thank you." I texted and asked if he was going to level the sliding doors. One door still had the wooden shim sticking out. He said, yes we know and it would be fixed." I sent a second text, "Are you going to install the screen doors? On 8/6/24, Dave text, yes I can be there at 9am if that is OK with you". On 8/6/24 Dave arrived at 9am, but at 9:56am, he texted, “I must get special tools at my shop to adjust screen doors to slide properly. I will return shortly. Thank you". He returned and before leaving texted again, "screen doors adjusted. Let me know when we can finalize. Thank you." I told Dave the balance would be paid once the job is completed and that included the locking mechanism on the sliding door (which he initially agreed to). Dave put in a work order with the manufacture (Milgrad), but the soonest they could address the issue was 8/28/24. On 8/17/24 at 9:08am, I texted Dave to tell him that the "roof in the sunroom is leaking". The water is coming in on both sides where the sunroom connects to the shed and house. On 8/19/24 at 7:38am, Dave texted, "I can be there at 8:30am today. Is that OK?" I responded, "I think it might be good for you to come by when my husband returns (away on a work trip) home. He wants to know/see exactly what is being done to address this issue". Dave texted back and said, "Good idea. Can I come by to just look at the problem?" I responded no, he'll call you when he gets back in town. Dave responded, "OK. I was going to contact a roofing company to look at it. Please let me know when you would like me to address the problem. Thank you". On 8/20/24, I texted Dave and said, I talked to my husband. He said that if you want to get a roofer to come out to look at the roof, he’s okay with that, but we are not paying for it. I also sent Dave pictures of the roof leaking into the sunroom. On 8/23/24, Dave sent text message saying, “I cannot get a roofer out there very soon. When can I come look at the problem?” I responded on that same day, “Do you want us to find one and deduct it from what we owe you?” On 8/26/24, Dave respond, I will let you know when a roofer can come over”. I responded, “Okay. Make sure he is licensed and bonded. Thanks”. On 8/28/24, Milgard came out to fix the lock. Dave sent one of his guys (Tom) out to the house to meet with Milgard. While there, I pointed out to Tom that the sliding doors are still not leveled. I told him how frustrated I was that the shim is still in the door frame. The screen doors are not aligned with the locking mechanism. Tom said, let’s ask the Milgard workers if they will adjust them. The Milgard workers told Tom that it’s the contractor who installed the sliding doors responsibility to make sure the doors are leveled. On 8/28/24 at 11:21am, Dave left a voice message agreeing to allow us to find a roofer. He said, the roofers that he reached out to are all busy and can’t get to our project. I told him that I will talk to my husband and get back to him. On 8/28/24 at 6:20pm, Dave sent the following text, “After seeing the photos you sent I understand where the leak is and how to fix it. I am licensed,
