"These guys are great! I have a few cabinet doors that needed to be painted to finish up a kitchen cabinet refacing project we started before we moved into our condo. We reached out to multiple people to get a quote for painting just a few cabinet doors. We were on a budget, and I didn't think we'd be able to get the work done until we could save up more, but these guys are so nice that they offered to work with us on our budget - it truly felt like a Christmas miracle (I may have teared up, it was so kind)! They did a great job painting the cabinets and turned them around in just a couple of days, even though I told them they could take their time. In the future, we hope to repaint all the walls in our home, and I will reach out to Color Cat Painting when the time comes!"

Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Redemption NW Paint Services to paint the ceiling throughout my condo. Also to paint 5 full paneled doors (Inside and out) and trim, with 2 half paneled pantry doors. My condo is a fixer upper and I have done the majority of the work myself but it was getting to be too much. I wish I had know about this company last year! They are the BEST!!! I had sanded and caulked the doors and they still did touch ups. They repaired the ceiling holes and where the walls had separated from the ceiling from settling. I was contracted for one coat of paint on the doors and they did 2-3 coats as they were not going to stop until it was as close to perfect as they could get. They are absolutely beautiful!! Justin, the owner, is wonderful and professional and the prices he quotes match the perfect quality he delivers. They treated my small condo with the same professionalism, respect, and grace as if they were doing a million dollar home. The guys that came out Nick (one of the two days they were here), Andy and Xavier were awesome!! I cannot rave enough about this company...and if I could give them more than a 5 Star Rating I would!"

"Highly recommend Rocc! He recently came to my house (an old craftsman) to redo existing cabinetry and add Ikea uppers in my old kitchenâ the space looks brand new. Rocc was communicative and helpful from the start of the process, working with me on layout, a shopping list and timing for plumbing and electrical. He helped me to integrate new appliances into my old space making the kitchen more functional. The result looks and functions amazingly. I will definitely have Rocc come back for future work."

"We had an old patio door not sliding properly. It needed repair so that care givers and family could have access during the illness of my daughter-in-law. Handyman Alan was able to improve the old door just fine. Thanks guy."

"Very high quality work so I didn't mind paying a few pennies more for their service. They take house painting to an art form by paying attention to all the little details from the prep work to the finish. They are very neat and organized with daily clean-up. I would hire them again in a heart beat. They did a fantastic job."

Small jobs welcome

"Our contractor, Israel was very professional and accommodating. We had a bathtub/shower unit removed and replaced with a tiled walk-in shower and a new vanity installed … Israel's workmanship is Perfection. We would definitely hire this company again! Rochelle and Dan"

FAQs for closet service projects in Monroe, WA

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. A reach-in closet is on the lower end of the price range from about $250 to $1,500, compared to a walk-in closet at $750 to $3,500 or a wardrobe at the high end between $1,500 and $6,000 or more.

The main difference between a closet and a wardrobe is that a closet is a separate room for general storage with its own door, and a wardrobe can be either built-in or freestanding place to store clothing. A walk-in or reach-in closet connected to a bedroom often serves the same purpose as a wardrobe by primarily storing clothes and shoes. A built-in wardrobe often does not have doors and leaves clothes exposed to view, whereas a standalone wardrobe usually has doors.

You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.

Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:

  • A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.

  • A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.

  • A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.

Yes, building a custom closet can definitely add value to your home. Creating a more useful and pleasing space to your home, especially a custom closet for prospective home buyers to imagine as their own, is likely to increase the value. However, avoid overdoing it with a closet that takes up too much space that’s otherwise more useful as living space, or paying extra for overly lavish materials and finishes that aren’t likely to add more value than they cost.
