"Yes, the job was well done and on time. We had a problem with the tile and grout in our walk-in shower. He explained what the problems were with the original installation and then cleaned the tile and replaced the grout. He also installed shower bars which will help us from falling in the shower. We highly recommend this gentleman."

"We had three moderate areas to tile: largest one, the master bath included a heating system I'm very pleased with Kevin went out of his to accommodate me, even taking two doors of the hinges trimming the bottoms to clear the tile."

"Alfa Tile and Stone helped us with our master bath remodel. They installed Wedi and tiled a full shower (floor to ceiling) and the floor. The guys were very detailed, patient with our questions and were very respectful of our property. They took time to do it right, everything was plum and sloped properly. We would absolutely hire them again!"

"He did a great job in installing the sub floor in one of our two bathrooms and also designing the showers and flooring and toilet in another bathroom. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get their home redone and will definitely be using him again!"

"Vasiliy handled the demo, wall prep, and tile for my bathtub/ shower area and did an awesome job. He showed up when he said he would, worked quickly AND carefully, and was a pleasure to have in my home. (He was even nice to my "helpful" dog!) I'm likely moving in the next year and my first call for any construction/ remodel needs will definitely be VNV and Vasiliy!"

"What an awesome experience this was! We had a very tight timeline (1 week) and they were able to get it done. From the initial call to job completion it was maybe 5 days. Martin was quick to response and very helpful with all of our questions. Alex was the employee who was laying the tile. He was quick, professional and clean. Alex is a true craftsman! The tile work was 10x better than we were expecting. Even with our dog bugging him every now and then, he would give him a quick pet and continue to work. I would highly recommend VM Designs LLC to do your tile work."

Customers say: Quick response

"Fidel and Christina have our highest recommendation! We recently had F&C Painting and Tile LLC come out to our house to install backsplash and floor tile in our kitchen. Fidel is a master at his craft - we are so happy with how he performed his work and how everything turned out. Christina kept in great communication with us on the business side with quotes and scheduling. They are a fantastic team. Their quote was within our remodeling budget and the work was done in a very timely manner. We will definitely contact F&C Painting and Tile LLC should we need other tile/painting work done!"

"We are building a home for our daughter and family doing most of the work ourselves until recently. We decided we would really like ceramic wood-looking tile floors on the entire home (8x48 inch tiles). Ricardo (Kings Luxury Tile & Flooring) gave us a prompt and very reasonable bid, so we hired them. Ricardo insisted on backer board - despite 1 1/8" flooring - for strength. Their work has been flawless. Their customer service outstanding. We had lots of questions and special needs. We are so happy with their work, we are going to have them do our bathrooms as well. Hopefully they will have the results of their work available for others to see. You wouldn't believe how beautiful our floors look."

"work was flawless, 4.5 hours, but the buyer will not recognize the repairs, I was very impressed, very detailed about the work. Another gentleman was sent to re-insulated and belly bonded and worked on the crawlspace, next day came back to take pictures and bought materials for the left side of the house, rebuild it with wood beams and concrete post. 3rd day, bought new screen cover for the air vents around the house, about 8 to 10 of them. I was very pleased with their work."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

There are no unbreakable rules of design, but experts recommend against using large tiles in areas with poor subflooring where they’re more prone to cracking, in areas where the floor isn’t entirely level, over raised areas or dips, and in bathrooms where budget is the primary concern. The size of your bathroom shouldn’t be a reason not to use large tiles; in fact, larger tiles, also known as slab tiles, can be a modern and sleek choice for bathroom floors and walls.

For professional labor and materials, it would cost between $6,000 and $28,000 to install 1,000 square feet of Saltillo tile flooring. If that’s out of your budget, you could consider laying the tiles yourself or choosing a less expensive type of flooring. For example, vinyl flooring costs just $2 to $7 per square foot, so for a 1,000-square-foot space, you’d pay $2,000 to $7,000.

There are several tools that you will use together to install tiles. Four of the most basic tools needed in tile installation include a notched trowel for applying tile adhesive, a tile cutter or saw for cutting tiles to size, tile spacers for creating the appropriate amount of space between tiles, and a grout float for applying grout.

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.
