"Bryan (estimator) explained and demonstrated roofing materials at first meeting. He was experienced and attention to details about project proposal. We had scheduled with outstanding workers who came on time and worked directly three days to finish the whole roof and did all damaged plywood that we requested (well done and efficient). All inspections after completion and follow up the project with us afterward. Derek was cheerfully coming to our house for final inspection and concerns. He was clearly explained all questions and concerns that we had. Very satisfy with all his extraordinary customer service and pleasure to meet him. We definitely recommend them in future."

"Had six old windows replaced by Tom, Tony and Solomon. They did a two day job within one day for my Vancouver,WA unit. Anything I asked for they were responsive to. I was very satisfied with everything. Alvin and others at the company did a good job at getting me prepared for every step of the way. Thanks team. I am expecting a rebate on top of everything too!"

"A water leak through a fire sprinkler head which had begun several months ago in our Vancouver office building. At the time I called on two different occasions, another local roofing company which we had used on a previous occasion, and though follow-up calls to schedule were promised, the calls were never returned. Very irritating. I studied Angie's List and found Jimmy Brown's company. We made it through the summer season and in a rainstorm yesterday, the leak again showed itself. I called Jimmy Brown's Roofing Company in the morning and Jimmy came out in the afternoon and found the problem within minutes. The next day he came back and did the repair."

"It took awhile for Precision to get started, but the weather was not the best and Mike wanted at least 4 good days to do the job.  Once started, the job was complete in about a week.  The crew seemed pretty experienced.

My only gripe is that we were told we would be getting the warranty on the roof within a few weeks after it was installed.  It's now been about 8 months and Mike won't respond to repeated phone calls with messages left to at least call back and let us know if and when we may expect to get the warranty papers.   We were told once he had lost his warranty book, but that was several months ago.  The roof went through a very wet winter and spring OK, but we would still like to have the warranty in case the shingles wear out prematurely.

I don't know why Mike won't return calls, but until I get the warranty papers I cannot in good conscience recommend Precision Roofing.

Skylights questions, answered by experts

This is based on personal preference, budget, and the vibe you are going for with your holiday lighting. If you are looking for the cheapest option, incandescent lights are a budget-friendly choice. You can also opt for sheets of lights that cover areas such as trees and bushes for easier installation.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.

An improperly installed skylight could potentially impact your roof's warranty. This happens because roofing penetration is necessary during skylight installation. Check your warranty information to verify. In most cases, having skylights professionally installed with proof that flashing is being done to specifications can be enough to preserve your roof's warranty.

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

Prevent future skylight issues by conducting regular inspections, ensuring gutters are clean to prevent water pooling, applying protective sealants periodically, and trimming overhanging branches that might cause physical damage to the skylight.
