PRECISION ROOF SYSTEMS INC

First off, I'd like to apologize to Mike for getting this review in so late. We wanted to wait through the winter to see if everything went well. Then, in the midst of an ever-ongoing remodel, we forgot about it and we're sorry, because he did a terrific job and we are so grateful to have such a good roof.
We have an old house with many odd angles and gables and it also has been added onto in the past, so the roof is quite complicated. Also, my husband wanted to use an unusual pattern that had to match exactly to look right. With all the different pitches and angles, this was quite a challenge. Mike was wonderful to work with and handled everything effortlessly, even though he said he'd never worked with that pattern before. He and his crew were friendly and efficient and kept everything cleaned up as they went. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and the roof still looks great.

DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR. HE DOES NOT HONOR YOUR WARRANTIES AND DOES NOT CALL YOU BACK. I AM HAVING TO PLACE LEAN ON BUSINESS TO GET WARRANTY HONORED.

Leak in roof.  Mike Black caulked chimney area.  Returned for further caulking when leak persisted, warning
we would need chimney reflashing if leak continued.  Scheduled reflashing.  Mike's associate, John, did
another short term fix - which did not work either.

We were unable to reach anyone by phone, email, business office so complained to Angie's List.  They
investigated and reported that Mike was in the hospital.  When he was released, he scheduled and completed
our chimney reflashing.  No leaks now!

It took awhile for Precision to get started, but the weather was not the best and Mike wanted at least 4 good days to do the job.  Once started, the job was complete in about a week.  The crew seemed pretty experienced. 

My only gripe is that we were told we would be getting the warranty on the roof within a few weeks after it was installed.  It's now been about 8 months and Mike won't respond to repeated phone calls with messages left to at least call back and let us know if and when we may expect to get the warranty papers.   We were told once he had lost his warranty book, but that was several months ago.  The roof went through a very wet winter and spring OK, but we would still like to have the warranty in case the shingles wear out prematurely.

I don't know why Mike won't return calls, but until I get the warranty papers I cannot in good conscience recommend Precision Roofing.

The roofing shingles aren't the color I told them to put up there. I have a leak and the guy isn't returning my phone calls. I don't think he works with a lot of integrity. I don't think the guys he has work for him have a lot of experience.

He called back right away and gave us an estimite. He started a couple days later, it took 2 days to finish the job. He was very professional and the job went very well. I would recommend them to others. It did take a little while to receive the paper work but not too long.

Mike came over and gave us an estimate for what we needed (not what he wanted to sell us). We liked his straightforward, friendly style and obvious knowledge. He kept us updated about scheduling and had a professional, conscientious crew who completed their job and kept the site clean as they worked.

The job went well from start to finish.  Mike and his 2 man crew were on the job the whole time as oposed to running back and forth bewtween jobs which seems to happen a lot these days. Total time for the re-roof was 2 days. Materials arrived on Thursday, they started Friday and worked all day, then finished up Saturday afternoon. .

The quality of the work was great and they were thorough in finishing up with a complete clean-up. I would reccommend Precision for any roof job. The were on time, did the work as outlined, used quality materials, and did not cut corners.The scope of work was completely outlined in writing prior to the job start, and when we made a couple of changes they provided an updated contract that reflected the changes so there was never any guesswork as to what was to be done.

Highly reccommended.

Mike Black was very professional and knowledgeable and thorough. I was nervous about finding the right roofer because a new roof is a big deal and I couldn't have asked for a better roofer. He also replaced an old skylight for us and the new roof and skylight make the house look so much better. No more leaks! You would be crazy to not hire Mike!

That guy was great.

Mike Black called and told me it looked like a few good days and they would start on Wednesday. He is the owner and worked every day on the job. They worked from 8am - 6pm and got the entire job done in 3 1/2 days. I went with the 3 tab Pabco Paramount 50 year roof. It looks great!! I thought Mike and his crew did a great job!!

Excellent. Mike Black was punctual and responsive. The roof looks great and the site was cleaned up well.

Mike's bid was very competitive and detailed. He scheduled the job within two weeks, but had rain delays. Job went pretty well overall, tough tear off given 4 layers, but Mike and his crew worked hard to get the job in about 5 days (extra 2 days due to weather). The small crew (3-4) was pretty nice and we had only a couple items broken (ripped screen and broken garden lights), but Mike replaced the lights and paid for the screen immediately, just part of a messy job. Mike is good and honest guy, he even let me toss old fencing and parts into his trailer. They cleaned up well each day and we've found next to no nails. For a very small operation, they did a very nice job.

After a couple of rain delays the crew showed up and began work. Finnished in 2.5 days. Another roofer said he could do it in just one day but we went with Precision because of price and a thought that a one day job might be a rush job. Professional and intense attention to detail impressed us. Particularly impressed with the flashing job. They broke a skylight on the deck and replaced it. Good cleanup although I am sure that we will be finding small bits for a few months.. We would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends and neighbors.

The company was very responsive in all phases of the project, returning my calls in a timely fashion. This is not an operation with an army of estimators - Mike does the estimating himself, as well as working on the roof. Refreshingly, Mike passes the savings on to his customers. The crew was always on-time, energetic, and courteous. Tearing off 4 layers of roof was clearly physically demanding, but the crew never complained - "It's part of the job". Mike also fixed a couple of truss issues that were poorly executed originally, along with some rotted fascia board. Some gutter work is necessary on the rear of the house - Mike's recommendation of Citywide Custom Gutter was appreciated greatly - Roger was a great guy, provided an unbeatable estimate, and I look forward to reviewing their work when it's completed. Thanks to Mike, Ralph, and Mighty Dave, we had the best contractor experience to date, and recommend Precision Roof Systems to anyone interested in old-fashioned quality and service!

Was a great experience. I noticed some water damaged drywall on our ceiling. It was a Sunday, so I left messages with many area roofers. Mike was the first to call me back (within about an hour). He came out to repair the roof the next day. The leak was caused by a some bad caulking around a skylight. He examined the whole roof (other skylights, vents, etc) and noticed that we had a few warped vents, too. The roof was repaired, leak fixed, and new vents installed in a couple hours. There has not been any heavy rain since, but it has sprinkled quite a bit and there have not been any more leaking.

Estimate went well; demolition work on one day; finished all new work the next

Very good. He was professional. Arrived on time. His rates were reasonable.

Mike did a good job, would use him again

I'd already had one company "company X" come out and take a look at the roof & Company X said we should just replace the sagging corner of the roof and nail the gutters back in. They later changed their mind and decided that we should install fascia instead. I started to think Company X didn't really know what they were talking about. So, I called Precision Roof Systems. Mike Black was very prompt to return my initial phone call. He came out to our home and gave the roof a thorough looking over. He pointed out sections of the roof that were a real mess. There was an obvious section of roof that had rotten and was actually pushing up through the shingles. There were sections improperly shingled (probably the source of the water seeping in that caused a lot of the damage). There was also a divot in the roof that could be seen with naked eye- it was actually so damaged underneath that it could not even be trusted to bare weight. Mike was extremely knowledgable about proper air circulation, venting, roofing, gutters- you name it. I was impressed right away with his knowledge and easy-going personality. They had great communication skills, a very clear contract & very nice/friendly employees. We would book these guys again in a second & highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great roofing company offering excellent service for a very fair price.

This is the second job Mike has done for us. He also did a duplex we own last summer and that went equally well. He did the entire job in one day and it went really well. Mike is up on the roof working with his crew of two others, so he sees for himself the work quality. We installed a reflective roof that qualifies for a 30% federal incentive, so our final roof cost will be $3400.

Overall - the project went very well. Kept us posted as to the progress and any possible problems.

I was impressed that he was willing to allow me to contribute as a homeowner. When I was done with my part, they were very willing to provide the shingles and flashing to finish the job. I am happy with the results and I will use this company again in the future.

I've had Mike back for two other jobs and I'd hire him again if I had the need. I wanted attic vents installed for Summer heat to keep the attic/upstairs cooler. I also built a shed and had him install roof on it to match. Good work!

He initially lost our inquiry, and called 10 days later. We still needed the work done so he came out, gave a quick estimate, then came back and did it. Very prompt, thorough and complete, after the initial delay in call back.
