"Our roof started leaking during heavy rain, and M&H Roofing came out quickly to inspect. They thoroughly checked and found the exact hole causing the issue, then we were able to schedule the work and they came patched it right away. No more leaks, and they left everything clean. Honest, professional, and effective—highly recommend them for any roof repairs!"

"They did an excellent job, from start to finish, they were very clean and professional, there was also good communication through the whole process, I?m more than happy with my roof, they were able to repair it, they had to replace some rotten plywood as well, so thankful for having someone that was able to explain everything to me in a simple way, will definitely be recommending them to my family and friends."

"Leo and Ben built a new deck and railings for my front porch. They did a beautiful job from start to finish, and the project turned out exactly as I had hoped. They are such hard workers-started at 9 on the first day of the heat wave, and didnâ t stop till 7 that evening, came back the next day and finished up. I highly recommend them."

"RT Total Lawn made the process from inquiry to installation easy. Sara responded to my Angie’s request, answered a few questions, then came out with owner Rafael to do an estimate. We discussed drip vs in ground irrigation, agreed on a fair price then the work was scheduled and completed quickly. When done, RT’s crew did a thorough clean up and Rafael and Sara came back to do a walk through. I am 100% satisfied and look forward to working them on other projects. Great to find a local business that does quality work and cares about customer satisfaction. Highly recommend!"

"Isaiah took a metal roof sorely in need of cleaning and restored it to its original state. He's a physically able, rock-solid kind of person committed to doing the job well. He's also well equipped with the kinds of tools and equipment required to clean and restore efficiently sizable and sometimes complicated roofs. We'll be calling on him again next time around."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Most roof leaks occur where shingles meet or where there are sealants or seams in the materials. This is common around skylights and at any point there is a break in the roof such as corners and edges. Roofing materials are incredibly strong and resistant when overlapping, but any change in that can cause gaps where water can enter.

TPO roofing can last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, or an average of 22 years, but you can extend its life expectancy through proper roof maintenance. For the best chance at realizing the longest life span possible, keep tree branches trimmed so they’re not in contact with the roofing material. Inspect your roof regularly and repair any damage immediately.

To apply for a roofing permit, contact your local building authority. You may visit their office in person or contact them via phone or email. For more information on how to start the process, visit their website.

The average cost to winterize a house is about $250, but it can range from $65 to $1,000 depending on the type of work that needs to be done. For homeowners that are experienced DIYers, it can save quite a bit on costs. However, you shouldn’t attempt tasks you aren’t familiar with or are potentially dangerous.

More and more insurance companies are writing torch down applications out of their liability insurance for contractors. If torch down is covered, they generally require a worker to stay on site for two hours after the last flame is extinguished.

For this reason, cold application modified bitumen—also known as “peel and stick”—is becoming more popular, and torch down is decreasing in popularity. Modified bitumen is taking its place, as it uses both hot and cold applications.
