"Vic did a wonderful job. We started with cement walls and floor, and ended up with a beautiful basement. Vic did most of the work himself, and researched and hired subcontractors for the rest. We had a roughed in bathroom, which he finished. As far as I can tell, he can do any kind of contracting needed. He was always conscientious about noise and any mess. He kept us in the loop for all decisions that needed making. He came up with interesting ways to make our project better. He came up with a closet for the bathroom that was very useful and looks very nice. We definitely will hire him again for any job."

"Serge did much more than flooring; he also installed electrical (lighting/ceiling fan & outlets) , bathroom vanities and enclosed an indoor storage area with custom doors. He is fair and an excellent worker. We especially appreciate his prompt communication. That work was done summer/fall 2022. Heâ s back now (summer 2023) for more home improvements."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

It usually takes around four to six months to build and install a modular home, although your timeline could go up to around eight months if there are delays in the manufacturing or permitting process. Heavy site preparation and foundation pouring can extend that timeline if you need them, as can customizations you want for your modular home. Your modular home company should be able to provide an estimate for the construction timeline before you sign any contracts or agree to any work.

A designer is a great choice for remodeling projects that don’t require significant structural work. For remodeling that includes structural work like removing load-bearing walls, altering exterior walls, or adding on a room, an architect can design and execute the renovations while ensuring your home remains structurally sound.

It can take anywhere from a few days to several months to draw up architectural plans, depending on the complexity of your project. Architectural plans are highly detailed documents that take time to complete, and any changes or alterations can significantly extend how long they take.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to create unique structures. Confirm with your contractor.

Italianate architecture is a reinterpretation of Renaissance styles, combining elements of Italian farmhouses and villas with Victorian materials and construction. This home style emerged in the Victorian era, gaining popularity in the U.S. in the mid-to late-1800s. The style came about in response to what many then viewed as the too-rigid and stuffy Classical style designs.
