"We had a great experience with Kirkland Roofing Company for our full roof replacement. The crew was professional, showed up on time, and kept everything clean throughout the project. They explained the process clearly and kept us updated from start to finish. The new roof looks great and we’re very happy with the quality of the work. I would definitely recommend Kirkland Roofing Company to anyone looking for a reliable roofing contractor."

"Oscar provided quick and quality work. However, I was disappointed to have been charged for the cost of a full window frame replacement when the final job required only replacement of a single window pane."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Jack and his crew are incredibly nice, knowledgeable, skilled, and easy to work with. They did a fantastic job, and were so respectful of our home! I hardly knew they were here half the time, they were so low-key. We had them do the baseboards and outer door frames on our living, dining, and hallway areas. We'd refinished the wood floors over the summer, and hadn't gotten around to painting and installing the new trim, and finally just realized we didn't want to do it ourselves, and hired it out. They completed the work yesterday, which was well in line with our agreements, and it turned out beautifully! I just walked down the hall, and said internally, "Wow, this looks so great." ? My partner said the same thing when he got home and inspected it. We're both impressed and pleased with it, and Isaac's attention to detail, and willingness to be super diligent for me, were highly valuable! We are already planning to hire them again, to do the trim in the kitchen, and replace a window in the garage that is broken. I highly recommend Jack, Isaac, and Josh."

"Brian was prompt in responding to request for quote and came in very competitively priced. He was able to have his crew begin work replacing our storm damaged fence immediately. Brian stayed in communication throughout the removal and build process and did a great job explaining when a couple of problems came up. Did some extra work adding a level to a retaining wall to bring things up to a better lever for the yard. His crew Cooper and Hunter did an excellent job, and Brian was onsite frequently. Highly recommend."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

While framing a basement is not as difficult as finishing a basement, it's something you should typically leave to the pros. That’s because if something is installed correctly, it will affect your entire basement. However, you can take care of some of the smaller tasks, like filling holes or putting up some insulation.

Your local building code will list all the framing requirements for whatever type of structure you're building. Most exterior walls require spacing of 16 inches on-center, while many non-load-bearing interior walls only require 24 inches of spacing. However, there are also varying requirements depending on your construction material, so checking your municipality's rules is essential.

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.
