Customers say: Quality work

"Rick listened very carefully to what we wanted for our project. He is an exceptionally hard worker. Two contractors who came to our home since the completion of the concrete slab by Fischer Concrete noticed the quality of the work and asked us who poured the slab. We are totally satisfied with Fischer Concrete."

"Tom and his cousin did a great job sealcoating my driveway, my next door neighbors driveway and then another driveway down the road all in the afternoon starting at 3 PM! They were efficient, knew what they were doing and did clean work on all the driveways and his quote for my driveway was reasonable. Just one thing...Tom called me (after I got his Company name through Home Advisor) and I missed his call but he didn't leave a message.....he got lucky I called him back anyway!"

"I cannot speak highly enough about this company. Their work ethic, their professionalism, both their ability and their desire to complete the job to the customer's satisfaction. They were always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the completed job was exactly how I wanted it, plus gave insight on infrastructure needed to ensure proper drainage, and integrity of the project. What I told the owner one day sums up how I feel about working with Travis, Salish Excavation & Trucking, "You make dreams come true." I could tell them what I wanted done, and they did it. In this day and age, that's a gift! I give my highest recommendation this company, and quite honestly, I think a person would be a fool not to hire them."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Asphalt is not a type of concrete. While both are a common type of pavement, asphalt is composed of aggregates (like sand and gravel) and bitumen; concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregates, and water. Here are some of the key differences between asphalt and concrete driveways.

By grading and compacting the base soil, ensuring proper drainage and stability.

Regular sealing, crack filling, and professional inspections help extend pavement lifespan and prevent costly repairs.

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.

A driveway's lifespan varies by material. Asphalt driveways typically last 15 to 30 years, while concrete driveways last longer, between 20 and 50 years. The longevity of any driveway is affected by factors like extreme temperatures, heavy traffic, and the quality of maintenance. Regular upkeep, such as filling cracks, resealing the surface, and ensuring proper drainage, can help extend its life. For gravel driveways, regrading to fill in uneven areas every year or two is recommended.
