"We had 13 trees pruned in August and are very happy with the work. We wanted an Arborist to do and/or oversee the work to ensure pruning for the health of the trees was the top priority. Cody came and did an estimate and was also on site for the pruning. They did an excellent job and we would highly recommend All Seasons Tree Service. We will definitely have them continue to do our pruning."

"We had a dead tree and several trees leaning towards our house that they took down. They cut them up into manageable chunks and put them in an easy spot for me to cut up later for firewood. Also piled all branches and scraps in my burn pile. Very professional and easy to work with around my schedule."

"Adam was everything I could have hoped for in an arborist. He sent clear communication, gave us a fair price, did a beautiful job trimming multiple trees and left my yard spotless. My husband thinks he even picked leaves that fell during the last wind storm! I highly recommend!"

"My giant cherry tree fell over at 5pm and I called Brian for emergency tree removal. The next morning, he had a crew out to chop down and chip the tree. He then came out with the stump grinder and took care of the rest. It was all done by 1:00pm!! I cannot recommend Sound Stump more highly. I was in a situation where the rest of the tree could have fallen and done serious damage to property. Brian saved the day; the arborists were incredibly kind, conscientious, and helpful, which I especially appreciated in an emergency. This is an exemplary company. Thank you, Brian!"

"Very well. Von’s strength is his competence as an arborist! What a sight to see him way up and out on a tree branch, with chain saw in hand! He’s also industrious and honest. His crew was also skilled and earnest about their work."

"We had a wide ranging landscaping job that required tree removal, minor grading, lots of brush and shrub removal and then finish with basalt chips, bark and many plants. Rick and his crew did a great job on tough terrain and were a pleasure to work with. It was a small job for them so they were fitting us in between other work and Rick always kept us informed if any schedule changes were necessary. Highly recommend Payne Earthworks!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a bird's nest depends on the species. The building process can take from two days to three weeks. Once built, the nesting period for baby birds can last from two to ten weeks before they leave the nest. While most young birds are ready in two to six weeks, some predatory species may need up to two and a half months. Some species nest four to five times per year, so a nest could remain in use for several months. For specific information about a particular nest's longevity, it is best to consult a wildlife professional.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

Sudden oak death and oak wilt are different diseases. Oak wilt first shows up in tree leaves while sudden oak death affects the branches and trunk. However, as symptoms in both can overlap, it’s best to consult a professional arborist tree expert for a proper diagnosis and development of a treatment plan.

Though summer is not ideal, you can do some light pruning during this time of year. Just make sure it’s not excessive. Vigorous pruning will stress the tree and impact next year’s growth. Generally, August to September are the best summer-pruning months, particularly for fruit trees.

Generally, homeowners do not need permission to cut down a tree on their own private property, but there are several exceptions where a permit may be required. You might need a permit if the tree is particularly large, old, or a protected species, such as a heritage tree. Trees located near public property or power lines can also be subject to special rules. Additionally, many local governments and homeowners associations (HOAs) have regulations controlling which trees can be removed to manage an area's appearance or prevent the spread of invasive species. To avoid hefty fines, it is crucial to check with your local government and HOA to determine if a permit is needed before you begin.
