"I just had two additional shades installed, a total of nine so far. This company is fabulous to work with, my sales rep, Ruth, was wonderful to work with, and the installers are terrific and very professional. I could not be happier with these shades, three of which are motorized."

"Both chairs look great and look better than the remaining chairs at home that didn't need any repairs. Can't even see where the crack was! Very professional and responsive. I would definitely use them again!"

"Andrew is amazingly focused on customer service. He was very helpful in suggesting choices that cost the same but looked better than options I had been considering. The estimate was very accurate and the end bill was what I expected. There were some delays in the schedule when the suppliers I had chosen had delays; the suppliers said this is common during covid. If you are doing a remodel during the pandemic I'd recommend ordering the materials in advance. Orange Painting and Remodeling was very responsive to scheduling time around my schedule. The final bathroom is gorgeous!"

"Ethos Windows and Doors did an excellent job of installing our front door and sidelights.  Previously this new door had been installed twice by our general contractor and it was obvious they did not do it correctly - there were several problems. Ethos correctly pointed out how the general contractor was damaging the door.  Ethos got the door reinstalled plumb and square and the installation and trim around the custom sidelights looks perfect. They were fast and left the job clean. Ethos also did a great job of fixing our back door which, thanks to our general contractor, was also not plumb or square.  It was clear that Ethos took full responsibility to see that the job was done correctly, with an eye for detail and to address any concerns we had.  It was a great relief to have found Ethos. We would highly recommend them for any door and window installation and repair.

"I had a water leak in my ceiling that needed urgent attention. They came to inspect the damage and gave me a fair estimate. They were able to start the work the next day and finished it in a timely manner. They did an excellent job repairing the ceiling and matching the texture and color. They also cleaned up the mess and left everything perfect. I was very impressed with their professionalism and quality of work. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs their services."

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.
