"I knew I needed to have some work done under my home after having an energy assessment done earlier in the year, and needed to get it done before this winter set in. I first contacted the contractor that was recommended by the company doing the assessment. His bid sounded way too high for what he was going to do.
So I went to my trusted source "Angie's List" for a second bid. After reviewing the different contractors available, I selected RGS  Crawl Space Insulation. I scheduled an appointment and Kevin Peterson (Sales Manager) came out. I explained what I needed and he went under my home to assess what really needed to be done. Afterward we reviewed his findings versus what I had been told before by the other contractor. He wrote up a bid for what we had agreed upon. RSG's bid was very reasonable for the amount of work that was going to be done.
We scheduled a date and time for the work to be done. They were at my home right on time and immediately started working under my home. My  existing insulation was in bad shape, it had rodent feces and carcasses just about throughout. It was nasty. The whole job took about 5 hours. Kevin came by the next morning and took pictures of the work done for me.
I was very impressed with the quality of work, quality of materials and the price. I now have a new, clean safe crawl space under my home and I don't have to worry about frozen pipes, drafts, or nasty rodents. I have already noticed a different in the floor temperature on cool mornings.
As a side note, my brother needed to have a vapor barrier put under the home he was selling. He knew I had just had some work done and was very happy with the results. He asked me to contact my contractor RSG for a bid to do his place. RGS gave him a price and consequently has done his home as well.
I will recommend this company to anyone who needs insulation work done. As a matter of fact, I am going to have them come out next Spring/Summer and check on my ceiling insulation to make sure it is up to the level it should be.

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

R-30 insulation is better for higher thermal resistance, but whether it’s "better" depends on the application. R-30 is much thicker and suited for areas like attics or floors in cold climates, where more insulation is required. R-13, on the other hand, is thinner and works well for 2x4 walls or milder climates where less insulation is sufficient. Choosing between R-13 and R-30 depends on the area being insulated and the climate. For example, R-30 provides more insulation but may not fit everywhere in your home.

When installing metal siding, a high-quality house wrap is considered the best protection against condensation and moisture infiltration. House wraps can increase a home's efficiency significantly. However, a house wrap is not a replacement for a vapor barrier because it can be permeable when moist air passes through siding. This is why it's essential to follow manufacturer instructions for insulating siding when installing new siding.

Yes, including recycled denim and cellulose from natural fibers.

Traditional clapboard siding, particularly with panels made from wood, is not a significant insulator on its own. However, you can keep your home cooler in summer and warmer with "insulated clapboard siding," which is a type of vinyl clapboard siding with a built-in foam insulation. Consult a local siding contractor to determine whether insulated siding is right for your home.

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first
