"Schmitty's Plumbing responded to my Angi's service request almost as soon as I submitted it, and they beat out three other Angi plumbing companies in terms of pricing and transparency. I hired Schmitty's to remove an old double bowl kitchen sink and faucet with a new single bowl sink and upgraded faucet. There was no upselling or attempts to convince us to replace our garbage disposal which two of the other plumbers recommended we do. We saw no reason to replace our disposal which functions well and is not that old. Partners Drake and Gage came out to our home as scheduled, and they got to work immediately working efficiently and thoroughly. We appreciated their no-nonsense, honest, prompt service, and very fair pricing. I chose Schmitty's based on the positive customer reviews, and would hire them again. I told them I would recommend them to all my friends who have plumbing needs!"

"Fixed a plugged sink problem that we had for several years and had hired 3 other plumbing companies at different times to unplug it. But, the sink kept plugging right back up. The first plumber to send a scope down the pipe to see what the problem was."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Modifying plumbing in Covington triggers a review of connected electrical, structural, and mechanical systems under residential building codes. If your home has older polybutylene or early PEX piping, replacing it impacts water heaters, HVAC humidifiers, and irrigation systems. Properties on private septic systems also require a capacity evaluation when adding fixtures. You must install a backflow prevention assembly on certain indoor and irrigation connections to protect your water supply.

Helpful?

Addressing plumbing promptly prevents accelerated water damage during the heavy rainy season in Covington. Fixing leaks and upgrading to low-flow fixtures directly reduces your water consumption under local tiered rate structures. Lowering indoor water use also decreases your sewer usage metrics. Upgrading interior pipes helps your home meet current WA cross-connection control requirements. This ensures a safe water supply and avoids future compliance complications during property transfers.

Helpful?

Routine plumbing maintenance in Covington includes checking pipe insulation in crawl spaces before November to prevent freezing. The heavy local tree canopy causes root intrusion, making sewer lateral scoping necessary every three to five years. Flush your water heater annually to remove sediment. You must also schedule annual testing for backflow prevention assemblies to meet WA state regulations. Inspect crawl spaces for condensation and joint weeping every spring.

Helpful?

Watch for slow drains, gurgling, or moisture in crawl spaces as the wet season approaches in Covington. Homes built between the late 1980s and early 2000s have aging supply lines, water heaters, and sewer laterals that require replacement. Discolored water indicates interior corrosion in older galvanized steel pipes due to local Cascade-source water chemistry. Failing a mandatory three-year septic inspection also signals an immediate need for plumbing service.

Helpful?

Postponing plumbing repairs in Covington leads to severe structural damage, as slow leaks saturate crawl space soil and promote mold within a single wet season. Failing to address septic issues overloads the drainfield, requiring extensive remediation. Unpermitted work results in stop-work orders and delayed property closings. Ignoring older galvanized pipes causes catastrophic failures and lead contamination. Deferred backflow assembly repairs result in immediate service interruptions from the water district.
