"Zero complaints. I have worked with Insulation Northwest twice now and have been very satisfied both times. The sales agent worked with me to find the best and most cost-effective solution, the customer service team is responsive, and the installers were professional, curtious, and pleasant. I recommend Insulation Northwest for all your insulation needs!"

"Enrique and Alex performed the task. They were punctual, polite and very quiet, which I was very happy with. I expected the hose and insulation to have been noisy. Great job, thanks so much."

"Daniel was pleasant to talk to on the phone and got my job scheduled almost immediately because I was in a hurry. His workers that did my job showed up on time and were very courteous and clean. They did a fantastic job of vacuuming out all of our rat soiled blown in insulation in the attic. I asked them to make sure and remove all the droppings because I need to go up there and seal. The 1500 sqft job took 2 men about 3.5 hours and they cleaned up after themselves. I would hire them again happily."

"I intended to insulate an one car garage and the attic of the whole house. They were prompt to provide an estimate and very professional and honest on suggesting best solution (ended up with not doing the attic for now). The job was completed fast and really happy with the result. The crew was friedly and respectfull. Kept the place clean after all the blow in insulation."

"I found that I needed far more work than anticipated due to the age and upkeep of the house, which was going to be significantly more expensive. The Angie's List deal wouldn't cover it, but I was not pressured to proceed with the pricier work. Simon agreed to do just the basic work during the time of the visit, and I will have him come back to do the more thorough job needed before the winter. He was patient and polite, and explained the situation to me in terms I could understand. Much appreciated."

"Excellent experience. Rafael from Golden Quality Builds was a very good communicator and ensured I knew the scope of work, timelines, and when his team would be on site since we were living here during the project. He was able to work with us within our budget and made sure the work was done to code so it would pass inspections. His team was knowledgeable and when we ran into issues related to the age and poor prior maintenance of the house he made sure I knew what my options were. The house looks great and is more comfortable to live in already. We feel confident the work will last for decades to come. I would definitely recommend Golden Quality Builds, and we are looking into some smaller follow up projects we'll hire them for in the future."

"Never having to have a roof replaced, I took a chance on hiring them based on the great work they did on another house. I am so glad I did. They were low pressure when they came out to my house to give me an estimate, unlike other roofing companies. They were on time and did exactly what they said they would do. The crew that did my roof, were respectful and hard working, They were so picky on the quality of the work they were doing. I would definitely use them again."

"Terence came and looked at our crawlspace, and told us we had post and beam construction, and described what they could do to insulate. We got two estimates from them (and another from a different company). We hired Hybrid. The crew was pleasant, hard working, and cleaned up when they were done. The work took longer than they predicted by a day, and the estimate was probably too low. They honored it. We'd hire them again in a minute."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The average U.S. homeowner pays $1,850 to insulate their home. However, the cost of insulation depends on the type, the size of your home, and who does the installation work.

The cost of foam board insulation depends on whether it's made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) or extruded polystyrene (XPS). EPS has the lower price point, usually costing between $0.25 and $0.50 per board foot, while XPS costs between $0.40 and $0.50 per board foot.

Cellulose insulation is usually made from recycled paper products, such as old newspapers, but cellulose might also contain recycled denim. While most homeowners traditionally buy cellulose insulation to use for installation, it is possible to make your own at home with old newspapers, cardboard, a paper shredder, and boric acid (important for fireproofing your cellulose insulation materials).

Cellular shades, also known as honeycomb shades, are the most energy-efficient and insulating window treatments. Their honeycomb structure is made of soft fabric that forms layered cell pockets. These pockets trap air, creating a thermal barrier that reduces heat loss in the winter and blocks heat gain in the summer. For even greater insulation, consider double- or triple-cell varieties. Side-tracked cellular shades, which seal the edges of the window frame, can further minimize air leaks and maximize energy efficiency.

Spreading tin foil over your windows works similarly to radiant barrier insulation, but not as well. It will reflect some of the sunlight that would otherwise come through the glass and warm up the inside of your home, so it might help a little to keep your home cool in the summer. However, the appearance isn’t preferable to blinds or drapes that can offer the same benefits. You might also consider tinting your windows instead, which is a more aesthetically pleasing change that can still block a good portion of the solar heat coming through your windows.

Insulation can be made of cellulose, fiberglass, polyurethane, polystyrene, or mineral wool. Radiant barriers are often made of aluminum or other similarly reflective materials, but they will need to be paired with something else because they don’t provide heating benefits. Cellulose is among the most eco-friendly options and may be recycled when it’s past its shelf-life, whereas polyurethane and polystyrene both emit harmful compounds and will need to be handled with care during installation.
