"Overall, substandard. William (painter) confirmed 2 coats of paint reqd & confirmed he could make repairs on swirl-textured surfaces. Textured surface repair was just to glop more paint in a swirl "pattern", several areas showed that 2 coats were not applied as required with original paint showing thru. I pointed out problem areas, he did not fix them. Had 3 gal wall paint left, 1 1/2 gal ceiling paint left (he told me how much was required). Told me not to worry, his standards were higher than mine. Ha! He recommended that I paint my beautifully stained baseboard...no way. Evident why when he didn't cut in on wall edge of baseboard. More paint gaps there. There is no way I would let him set foot in my house again based on his crappy paint job. Photos can be provided upon request."

To remove adhesive-backed wallpaper, you’ll need to soften the adhesive before you try peeling the wallpaper off the walls. You may wonder whether peel-and-stick wallpaper damages walls. It can depend on the removal method. Make sure to be patient and consider using a steamer, hair dryer, or adhesive remover to carefully take down adhesive-backed wallpaper.

We don’t recommend wallpapering over older paper. That’s because creating layers of glue can invite bubbling or excess moisture on the wall’s surface. You should also prime your wall before applying wallpaper and smooth the wall as much as you can, and another layer of wallpaper complicates this process.

Most experts would not recommend hanging wallpaper over existing wallpaper more than twice. Even if the walls are in good condition and primed well, that third layer of wallpaper could cause problems with adhesion. Unless you like bubbling paint and peeling wallpaper as an interior design choice, it’s better to remove at least one existing layer before adding any more to a wall.

For the most part, peel-and-stick wallpaper doesn't damage walls. However, there may be some cases when damage does occur. For example, if you try to rip the paper off the wall, you may pull away some paint at the same time.
