"JF Painting Services was a pleasure to work with in making our daughter’s nursery come to life! They were professional and very detailed in painting the trim and doors of the room and installing the heavily patterned wallpaper."

"I painted 90% of our 2800sqft house myself when we first moved in. I have a few years of experience doing both interior and exterior painting back in college and I can do a pretty good job but don't have all of the proper equipment for some things, plus, I have to consider how much I value my personal time. That's what brought me to hiring a painter to finish off the interior.. after 4 year :) I could have done the crowne moulding myself but the open 3rd floor stairwell and large picture window were just too high and difficult to get to. I decided to just pay a professional. I'll preface this by saying that I'm very particular and pay attention to details. Overall they did an acceptable job but there were a few things that could gave been better. First, they were punctual, polite, and professional - absolutely no issues there. They laid down drop cloths but I still ended up with a few drips and small speckles here and there as well as some smudges of caulking on the hardwood floor from prepping the crowne mouldings. My only significant complaint is that they didn't tape off the crowne moulding so there isn't a nice sharp line between the white woodwork and the darker walls. They brought rolls of tape but never used it. So while the finished product isn't sloppy, it could be better. Prep work makes a big difference in the outcome and I've taped off and painted all of the baseboard, windows, and door casings in the house with nice sharp lines. A couple other relatively minor things, 1) although they had rolls of plastic they didn't use it to cover any of the curtains they were working over. I initially asked if the needed me to remove the curtains and they said no, they would just hang plastic over them. Ultimately I don't really care either way so long as the are careful and don't drop or splatter but I don't see why they would take that risk. Last little thing is that they left a bunch of dried paint scraps in the stones at the side of my driveway from cleaning out their cans - no damage or anything but something I shouldn't have to clean up. I rated the price a "B" because it seemed a little expensive for the amount of work but it ended up taking them over 8 hours for 2 painter's and a helper. I just expected it to be more like a 4-6hr job. Still, if the quality had been top notch (i.e. nice crisp lines on the crowne mouldings, no additional clean up for me to do) I would have considered it well worth $1100 and given them an "A" for price. So overall I'm mostly satisfied, although there was room for improvement. I would probably hire them again but I would be more specific with my expectations."

"Wilber and crew were fantastic! Estimate was straightforward, understandable and prompt. Crew was on-time to start the work, brought four people and knocked it out in a day. Three things really stood out: 1. They went out of their way to take exceptional care of our home while doing the work...everything from how they closed doors to how they tarped the entire home from the front door to the room in the back of the house. 2. The quality of the work - the crew was meticulous about cleaning up the walls, ensuring all outlets were removed, mirrors removed, etc. 3. Communication - Wilber was very clear as to how long it would take, exactly how much paint we needed, etc. He checked in with us midway through the day to ensure we saw the first coat and how things were progressing. I would not hesitate to use Wilber Painting again"

"Wow! That's the word that describes Brian Martin of Power House Painting and his crew that did this project! We first used Power House to do the spray washing on our house--every year for the last 3 or 4 years.  Due to the height of our house we needed professional assistance--and they were super.  When I heard that Brian had expanded his business to include interior repairs and painting I called him for an estimate. He came by within 2 days and we discussed what we would like them to do--we received the estimate within 2 days again.
They started the following week--a Monday through Friday job.  As our ceilings are 18 feet in the living room and foyer, this was a tough job to do with the dry wall tape and painting at the top.  Brian's crew was spectacular--they arrived promptly each day, worked consistently each day, and our house was as clean each day at the end of the day as it was in the morning. They were so friendly, professional, and it was clear their goal was to do a fantastic project.  They even kept an eye on our pet when the weather turned bad.
We've had interior contracting before, and we have to say this is the first time that I could not find anything to build what is called a punch list.  Of course there were a few things that always need touch up, however literally those were done in minutes.  I want to thank Brian for the continued professionalism, support, and quality of the jobs his company has done for us.  Special shout out to Leroy, Kevin, and Cathy for the hard, tough work, and the absolutely 100%, flawless workmanship--your pride in what you do shows!!!

"Restart his crew were able to paint my one story vinyl sided home and update it from its dingy dark yellow to a fresh Agreeable gray. He was very knowledgeable about his Sherwin Williams Preferred products and was able to convince me (a hard bargain) in a more modern refreshing update. It was a pleasure to work with him and the Crew, very punctual and I love how he feeds his crew!! Looking forward to working with him on my investment properties this spring"

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

Small amounts of wallpaper can be thrown away in your household trash. If you’re removing a whole home’s worth of wallpaper, you may need to contact a waste removal company, rent a dumpster, or schedule a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste removal service. Wallpaper isn’t recyclable, so no matter which method you choose to dispose of it, make sure it doesn’t get mixed in with the recycling.

Using a fabric softener solution is a popular and low-cost DIY method for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited. While it may work on some types of wallpaper, it is unlikely to be successful on vintage styles, and there is no evidence that it is more effective than other removal methods. There are also several potential downsides: the solution can leave behind a residue that may damage your walls or interfere with the adhesion of new wallpaper. Additionally, this method can create a strong, overpowering aroma that takes a long time to dissipate, making it a poor choice for homeowners sensitive to smells.

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.

While you can remove wallpaper yourself, it is a labor-intensive process that risks damaging your walls. Common DIY methods include using a steamer to loosen the adhesive or spraying the paper with a solution of hot water and vinegar or dish soap before scraping. However, steamers can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly, and the spray-and-scrape method can harm drywall if it gets too wet or you scrape too aggressively. For these reasons, hiring a professional is often the fastest, easiest, and safest option. A pro has the experience and specialized tools to remove wallpaper efficiently without damaging the underlying surface, which saves time and minimizes the prep work needed for your next wall treatment.
