"He was very professional, patient and open to sharing tips on how to maintain a wallpapered space. He started the job on time and finished in the same fashion. When the job was complete he left the place looking just as clean as it was before he started. Great service at a fair price! I will definitely use Cottons Paint and Wallpaper again."

"Rene is hardworking, honest and above all, trustworthy - that is why I hire him. His pricing is also reasonable. The quality of his work is absolutely top notch - I just cannot say how much my wife and I value this. Our basement is fully functional, our kitchen came out looking exactly as we had envisioned it, and our bathrooms look fabulous. Needless to say, I'd recommend Rene in a heartbeat!"

"Mr. Howell has successfully completed a substantial amount of exterior caulking, painting, removal and replacement of rotted wood with mostly PVC trim boards, and soffit repair on a three-story colonial home. He completed the work on time and did an excellent job. Our next project for Mr. Howell is to repair our two front porches (removal and replacement of rotted pickets, hand rail, and stairs) - along with painting of our wood porch flooring and deck. After searching for a while, I have finally found someone who is reliable, shows up on time, promptly responds to phone messages and texts, is a problem-solver, knows what he's doing, and is fairly priced!"

"WOW -- Chase and his crew did such a great job. Chase is really on top of things. He's always here on time, keeps us
posted of any changes, and has a real attention to detail.  They were all very polite, enthusiastic, and professional.
I can't say enough good things about them. We need more painting done and they will definitely get the job! And best of all, they were very competitively priced.

"Mike from M&M Star Improvement came into my home a few minutes before scheduled, very courteous and professional, we went over the services again that I needed...my old wallpaper to be removed and to paint three of my four bathroom walls, and when I arrived home later in the evening the job was finished. I was amazed and completely satisfied to come back to a clean and beautiful bathroom after a very long day. I am definitely recommending this company to everyone I know."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Many types of wallpaper exist, from removable peel-and-stick options to more permanent options that involve pasting. You can also find wallpaper that you can paint over, wallpaper with a texture, and wallpaper made from various materials, such as vinyl. Some types of wallpaper are washable, which can be a great option for kitchens or if your household has small children.

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is designed to be removed without damaging walls, making it a good choice for renters or temporary design changes. However, damage to paint or drywall can occur under certain conditions. To prevent issues, the wall surface must be properly prepared before application—it should be clean, smooth, dry, and correctly primed or painted. Applying wallpaper to a freshly painted surface can cause the paint to peel off during removal. Additionally, removing the wallpaper too quickly or aggressively can also cause damage. For best results, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for both application and removal.

Yes, many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can be used in bathrooms, especially those made of vinyl or polyester. However, its success depends heavily on the level of moisture and ventilation. In bathrooms with good ventilation, such as those with fans, it can be a durable option. Peel-and-stick wallpaper may not adhere as well as traditional wallpaper in very humid conditions. For bathrooms that see a lot of moisture, like a kids' bathroom or a full bath with a steamy shower and poor ventilation, even high-quality peel-and-stick wallpaper is likely to peel over time.

To layer wallpaper over wallpaper, inspect your existing wallpaper for problem areas. Damaged wallpaper should not be covered. If it’s okay to proceed, prep by turning off the electricity and removing any outlet and switch covers. Dust your walls and lightly rinse them to prevent the existing paper from peeling. Apply primer, then apply your new wallpaper.

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.
