"I couldn't be happier with the service! I requested the entertainment center to have the same look and finish as some other furniture i previously owned and it matches perfectly! I highly recommend his service!"

"It went just fine.  He was a great guy.  It looked great afterwards and he did a good job.  He did it less than hour and every time I called him, he called me back.  I would recommend him.  He seemed like an honest and reputable guy.  He said if there were any problems to call him back and there were no problems.  We were satisfied with his job and he did exactly what he said he was going to do.  That was a good deal. "

"In addition to doing an excellent job in refinishing our kitchen cabinets and matching perfectly with other existing woodwork; Hickory oversaw the installation of a new quartz counter top, and put up a tile back-splash. The crew was very professional and it was obvious that they took pride in their workmanship"

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Kitchen cabinets can hold a whopping 500 pounds, but that is only possible if you attach them correctly. They must be anchored securely with long screws driven straight into the wall studs for solid support. Depending on your cabinets and the installer, some upper cabinets use specialized hanging systems or brackets for extra reinforcement, ensuring they stay put no matter how full they get.

There are three primary ways to attach upper kitchen cabinets to a wall, and installers may use more than one method at a time. The most common method is to drive screws through the back of the cabinets and into studs in the wall behind. Sometimes cabinets are glued to the wall with strong adhesive. Often a combination of screws and adhesive is desirable. The last way is by hanging the cabinets on hardware brackets that attach to the wall before cabinet installation.

Yes, most installations include warranties for materials and labor. Confirm details with your contractor.

If your walls aren’t plumb, it can make installing frameless cabinets difficult because they require precise measurements so they don’t show imperfections. Any dissymmetry with installation can cause the doors and drawers to not function correctly. Frameless cabinets are also thicker and heavier, making them harder to install by yourself.

As a homeowner, there are a few things you can do to prepare for your cabinet installer. Once the cabinets are ready for your home, you can do the following:

  • Ensure pets are safely in another room, out of the way of open doors and large moving objects.

  • Clear countertops for removal.

  • Tidy the floor the installers will walk through and around.

  • Prepare to have the installers in your home for the entire day, for multiple days, until the project is done. Expect to have a noisy environment, especially if they will remove old, existing cabinets.
