Customers say: Quick response

"The installation was done by Valley Roofing, and they proved to be excellent contractors. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to build a sunroom or transform a screened in porch to a sunroom like we did. They met our expectations in every respect. For example, they went to great lengths to make sure the existing paint and the new paint matched perfectly. They were very detail oriented and responsive to changes we requested. We were extremely pleased with the outcome."

"Provider was suppose to return and finish laying sand on the patio. Since job was very close to complete, I paid him rather than wait. I never heard from him again. The sand has since washed out in spots and another provider is correcting the situation with polymeric sand. Other than the sand issue, the patio looks good in the way it is laid out. Provider was punctual, and the project went very fast considering it was in the middle of the winter.

"Fernando evaluated a stone facade on my Colonial Beach, VA townhouse that had come loose due to poor builder construction. He matched the stone perfectly and repaired the original work to like new condition. He was responsive, timely, cost-competitive, and most importantly did grade A work. Would definitely hire for any future projects!"

"If you are looking for a hard working guy to get some of your projects around your yard/house knocked out, call Blessed Bros. I had them do several jobs and I'm very pleased with the results. My garden beds were a mess (Fall leaves and last years dead flowers/plants)! He pulled out all the dead stuff and gave my perennials room to breathe and grow. I did not have him lay mulch. He power washed my house and patio, and brick surround, which now looks new again. They use a eco friendly solution (not just water) that mitigates mold, mildew, etc. The best thing was my picket fence had develop dark grey spots of mold all over. He went over it twice and it looks brand new! He did all the work himself for a very reasonable price. Note: I have a small, single story 1200 sqr ft hs. While it would unreasonable to expect the same price for a larger home, I believe you would still get your monies worth."

"The installation was efficient and satisfactory; however, I would have appreciated it if the sales rep, when meeting with me at my home and going over the options, would have pointed out that the color of the window frame would not match the color of surrounding wood."

Patios questions, answered by experts

Yes, transforming a deck into a sunroom is an absolute possibility. Building a sunroom involves framing in the deck area with walls, adding windows, and affixing a roof. This project is not an easy task, but it does provide a stylish addition to your house. Not all deck designs support this type of renovation project, so consult a professional deck builder before beginning.

Yes, a sunroom will require a permit. You may just need a general construction permit for a screened-in porch or solarium. For a three-season room with electricity and a four-season room with electric, heating, and cooling, you’ll need additional permits for each of the utilities, as well as a roofing permit.

If you’re trying to decide between a sunroom and a screened-in porch, the right choice will depend on your priorities. A screened-in porch costs only a fraction of the price of a sunroom, but in exchange, it has much more limited use. A sunroom will add more value to your home, but at a much higher up-front cost and longer construction timeline.

Prefab kits like a small sunroom for around $20,000 or even a basic gazebo roof for as little as $60 can save you big over professional installation. However, you lose the option for customization, and these structures tend not to last nearly as long. As for bigger projects like a deck or patio, you shouldn’t go with the DIY route unless you’re fully prepped with the tools and know-how to get it done right. Mistakes can be frustrating and costly, so choose a pro if you’re looking to eliminate your risk of error.

A Florida room is a home addition that has finished walls with windows lining the perimeter, while a screened-in porch, also known as an Arizona room, lacks windows and instead has screens to maintain constant ventilation. Florida rooms provide longer enjoyment throughout the year because they’re closed off and will naturally get heated from the sun, while a screened-in porch will just be the same temperature as the ambient air.
