"Wonderful job! Mr. Dudley works with his son and wife and they got things done fast and efficiently. They knew exactly how to fix a wide variety of issues and even offered suggestions on how to save money on other issues. It was a great experience - I highly recommend this team."

"Dawn and her team did an outstanding job from start to finish. They refinished hardwood floors, installed LVP, built new cabinets in the kitchen, smoothed and painted the ceilings, built out a laundry room, put up subway tile in the kitchen, and installed all new doors and hardware throughout. Dawn was my point of contact and she kept me informed, even sent me pics of the work when I was out of town. Before finishing everything, I was asked to create a punch list and Dawnâ s crew touched up and addressed all items on my list. Project was finished on time and within budget. Would definitely hire again."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Ceramic tile adheres best with premixed adhesive or mortar. If you’re installing the tile in an area with moisture, such as a bathroom or kitchen, opt for waterproof adhesive, and if you choose mortar, make sure it’s thick because that is the easiest to work with and ensures the tiles will sit flat.

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting.

When cleaning porcelain tiles, avoid products that contain ammonia, bleach, and other harsh chemicals. Acid-based cleansers can damage the tile, though you can clean them with a diluted mixture of one-quarter cup white vinegar mixed with one gallon of hot water. It is important always to use a soft-bristled brush or sponge, since hard bristles and steel wool can scratch the tile.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

Grouting hearth tiles is one of the most important steps. It seals the tiles so heat doesn’t transfer under the tiles so easily, which can be dangerous. For this reason, heat-resistant grout is a must. Grout also prevents dust, dirt, and any other material from gathering between your tiles. If this happens and those buildups are flammable, a fire could start between the tiles.
