"Jose and Christian are remarkably talented and hardworking professionals. Our three-story Victorian home is a challenge to paint. Very steep metal roofing, intricate dormers and insets and several very high areas where trim boards required replacement. The crew from Worgem’s Painting was excellent. Great communication and friendly and informative. Matching paint colors perfectly and applying paint in as many coats as required to complete the job. The job came in at the price quoted and the price was significantly better than three other Angi supplied bidders on the job. A+ work all the way around. I would not even bother with other quotes if I need painting in the future - they are that good. Many thanks to Jose and Christian. It was a pleasure to meet you and the work was excellent."

"We recently hired Donnie and his crew to paint the interior of our home, and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. They showed up on time every day, communicated well and respected our home. The job itself was flawless with clean lines and even coats. Their pricing was competitive, and we felt we received great value for the quality of work provided. We definitely recommend F&D Painting."

"Caleb did multiple projects for us: he repaired and painted a garage door; cut out, repaired and replaced part of our kitchen floor; put in a new drainage line for the refrigerator; cleaned and sealed 2 bluestone porches; fixed and sealed two areas of rotten wood; rehung a section of guttering. He was very competent, very nice to work with and considerate of us and our property."

"The personal and professional pride and attention to detail BWSS takes is reflected in the excellent quality of the work and is performed at reasonable prices. BWSS has repaired the roof and gutters, replaced the deck, and installed hardwood floors. The exterior of our natural cedar shingled house hadn't been washed or treated in 20 years. BWSS power washed and stained the house taking it from black back to it's original natural splendor! I plan to use BWSS for several more projects."

Painting questions, answered by experts

A five-gallon bucket of deck stain will cover roughly 875 square feet in a single coat. Actual coverage will vary based on the type of wood you’re staining and the number of coats. If you plan on doing multiple coats, multiply the square footage by the number of coats to calculate how many buckets of stain you’ll need.

The best type of paint to use for chain link fences is an oil-based paint. Oil-based paints are durable and will withstand the elements well. Search for an oil-based paint with rust protection and aluminum flakes to further protect the longevity of the fence.

The best way to prepare your vinyl fence for a paint job is to clean it with warm, soapy water and rinse it with a hose or pressure washer on a low setting. Be sure to let it totally dry, then sand the surface before applying an epoxy-based primer. After the primer, you're ready to paint your vinyl fence.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.
