He gave a very reasonable estimate, but upon property marking by “Miss Utility” learned the tree was planted (17 years ago) directly above our natural gas line, thus, no powered digging or stump grinding tools within 2 ft either side. We then negotiated a “not to exceed” price, and Andrew excavated the huge tree by hand, probing with bare hands and a screwdriver. Long story short, a 3 hour job took 3 full days before declaring “victory” over the tree and stump. I highly recommend Andrew for your tree removal & landscaping work and would definitely hire him again

- Tarzan Tree ServiceI’m a female disabled veteran on a fixed income and needed a tree removed. I contacted several companies and was shocked by the outrageously expensive quotes I received. Companies were quoting me $1,000 - $1,200 just to remove one tree. It wasn’t a huge tree! Finally, I contacted Tarzan Tree Service. Tarzan Tree Service is a veteran owned business. And, the difference shows! Tarzan didn’t make me wait for weeks just to get an initial estimate. I called to request an estimate, and they came out the very next day to assess the tree. He quoted me $400. They are certified arborists and a reputable business and they were only charging one third of my highest quote! It’s a small townhouse with a small front and side yard and a small, fenced backyard. So, I asked him about the cost to prune some other trees on the property and asked his advice about whether another tree in the backyard should be removed. The owner of Tarzan Tree Service was very easy to talk to and recommended that I not remove the Japanese Maple in the backyard. He suggested that the Japanese Maple simply be reshaped by removing a few lower branches. He explained that he felt it gave the property character and would increase my property value. He also explained the growing habit of the tree and told me it wouldn’t grow much further. He left the decision to me; but after listening to him, I decided to follow his advice. And, I’m glad I did. After assessing the entire property, and patiently explaining his recommendations, Tarzan Tree Service quoted me $475 to remove one tree from the front, remove a small bush that was too close to a window and the siding of the house, prune another front tree, prune and reshape the Japanese Maple in the back, and prune some neighboring tree limbs in the back that were hanging over my fence line. Tarzan quoted $475 for everything when another company quoted me $1,200 just to remove the one tree. I happily agreed! Tarzan Tree Service then came out the very next day with a crew of five military veterans and two work trucks. They quickly did all the pruning and removals, fed all the debris into their wood chipper, and quickly cleaned up all leaves. They were in and out in about 20 minutes and the property was spotless! They didn’t leave a speck of sawdust or any loose leaves or branches! They operated with precision and professionalism! They were personable, knowledgeable, honest, ethical, and an absolute joy to work with. I am not receiving any kind of benefit from providing this review, and I don’t personally know anyone from their company. I just want to give an honest review and recommend Tarzan Tree Service because they are an honest company. And, honest, ethical companies are hard to find. They are veteran owned and helped a fellow veteran on a fixed income without taking advantage of me like other companies tried to do. If you need tree removal or pruning, Tarzan Tree Service is by far the best. And, they deserve your business

Owned a garden center for 17 years. We have a very tight group. We do excellent work at affordable prices.
"Daniel and his crew did an excellent job installing a crush and run gravel driveway and parking space. Due to lots of rainfall in Chesapeake, our backyard driveway had been full of mud tracks and much of the existing gravel had washed away. Daniel and his crew worked very hard, installing by hand heavy railroad ties to keep the gravel from slipping out, and installing lots of crush and run. He took responsibility, by returning to add more gravel a week later due to a good rainfall which left a few holes that needed filled in. It’s held up very nicely. We are very pleased with their work and commitment.

"Project was done quickly once started, maybe too quick though. The ground wasn't tilled and leveled, the metal edging wasn't dug in due to ground not being tilled, edging wasn't used at the gate so gravel spills into lawn (they did leave me a piece so I can do it myself). The crew was polite and presented themselves very well. Could've been some misunderstanding of what I wanted (details) possibly. Overall fair as the edging sticks 4 inches above the ground. Had to check no to rehire, but it's not a solid no.

DJ was very responsive in coming out to look at the job and providing a quote, and was very honest about the pricing and potential longer lead time due to COVID issues. Due to shortage in lumber supply (and increased prices), the price for vinyl instead of wood was not much more expensive, so we went with the vinyl install. The pricing was very fair and we couldn't be happier with the results. DJ stayed in communication with me leading up to the install and came back again to make sure we were on the same page with the layout. DJ and his crew were punctual with the install, very efficient and kept me informed all the way through the process. He worked with us to make sure we were happy with aesthetics and in dealing with unforeseen landscape issues. It was very obvious they knew what they were doing.
