It went very well! They did exactly what they said they would do and they were punctual. I would recommend them to others.

Brian and Chris and staff performed excellent work including scheduling, actual work, and cleanup by professional group of workers. Have schedule for fall lawn re-plant. Looking forward to that, as the lawn area is about an acre of weed, moss, with some actual grass in places! The cleanup of and fresh mulch of the shrub beds and the trimming of the quite unsightly border hedge made a world of difference. Will definitely continue using their service.

Not good. The lawn was in rough shape but I was pleasantly surprised when the spring seeding they did germinated quickly and by early May I had a good looking lawn. I should have known better. Whatever seed they used had zero heat tolerance and by late July it was dying everywhere and being taken over by weeds and crabgrass. As for a maintenance program, after the spring seeding I never saw or heard from them again

"Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. I apologize for my delayed response to your review left earlier this month. I wanted to see what we had done for you up to this point. We actually aerated, applied seed and compost at your property early last October. We've had two visits to your property in 2017. Once for a landscape project completed on 2-17-2017 and the second visit 4-13-2017 for another. The last visit on 4-13 the crew that day was scheduled to treat your lawn. Our notes show you had treated the week before and would call us for further service. I have checked our notes and don't have any further communication after this date or estimate on file to treat your lawn. I'm sorry your lawn struggled this summer but unless we are actively involved the future results are out of our control. If you would like to discuss this further please contact our office. Thank you!"

I've done a LOT of work with Meadow. I wish I could give them top marks, but I can't. Quality of their work is generally good to excellent. But for whatever reason they are just plain hard to get out to do the promised work. They are either overbooked, understaffed or maybe both I guess. My lawn maintenance program for example has pretty much been forgotten as far as I can tell. The work gets done eventually, but having to make phone calls over and over, reschedule after reschedule gets old

They referred us to a local wholesale stone provider and we decided on a pretty high-end stone product (Belgard) to replace the old wooden walls. ?They were pricey, easily the highest of the three bids we took, but I was very concerned that this was a pretty complicated job, especially building the new walls and I just didn't have the confidence in the other bidders. ?Example: Meadow put together a very professional and comprehensive 10 page color written proposal, the middle bidder sent me a single sheet of paper with a materials and labor estimate, and the low bidder just left me a voice mail with his bid. ?Come on guys! ?During the build process I was happy to hear that reps from Lancaster Nursery (stone dealer) were on-site to observe progress. ?In the end we had a few minor punch list items that they took care of. ? Nice job.

The owners Chris and Bryan have been great to deal with. Their professionalism, price, and responsiveness won them the first two contracts. Their customer service and responsiveness to issues, which have been more of just getting to know the property and details, has been excellent. They have gone above and beyond to see that our needs are met. Would highly recommend!

It turned out okay. There was nothing out of the ordinary. I don't think I'd actually recommend them but not for any particular reason. I really didn't get much exposure to them. They really just came out and filled the order and I didn't talk to them or anything.

I purchased the company's big deal for mulch and edging.  The crew was on time, efficient, and professional.  I purchased additional mulch and edging to complete the coverage of all of my flower beds.  The additional cost was very reasonable.  I would definitely enlist the services of this company again, however, the company is based out of a location that is not in Virginia Beach and there was a mix up with the big deal area of services so they had not planned on doing much more business in the VB area after they completed all of their big deal committments.

They came out really quick and done the irrigation and planted seed, but the seed never took hold, so I didn't have much luck with it.
Response from Meadow Lawn & Landscape
"First would like to thank you for purchasing the big deal and sorry to hear that the seed did not germinate quite as expected. We did go back and review the notes for this service visit, which we had a couple of concerns. First each site is unique to itself and the ground was really hard. We did make additional passes with the machine to ensure it had additional coverage. The seed was also applied at a heavier rate because of the compaction. I apologize for the results but believe there was nothing else we could do at the moment. We are more than happy to discuss this with you and if you would like to call the office please do! Thanks again for allowing us to assist you with this service. v/r Chris Meadow Outdoor Innovations, Inc."

Arrived on time with a whole crew.  They edged all of my beds and put down mulch.  They did it all in record time.  Looks great.  Neighbors keep talking about how great it looks.  I will have them back to seed the lawn this spring.

The work went well, and the only thing that I would change, would be to ask for a different type of mulch.  They used  what looks like shaved/shredded tree bark.  Instead, I would have opted for something  different.  I will give them kudos, because one of the small trees that was trimmed, had thorns on it and was situated in a corner.  They did a fairly decent job cutting it back , while dealing with all of the thorny branches.  Overall, I was satisfied with the outcome of the service done, especially for the price paid. Going forward, I have already contacted them for other services.

It was a very simple evolution but they arrived on time, were cordial, did everything they promised and left me with contact information for future use. A pleasant experience all the way around.

Initially contacted company in the end of March 2013. Owner responded immediately. Was very polite, extremely professional, knowledgeable and responsive. Came out immediately, spent a lot of time with us going over exactly what we needed and wanted done. Got back to us quickly with a detailed estimate which seemed like a fair price. Choose this company over others due to enthusiasm and professsionalism. Initial quote included soil testing, complete lawn aeration, correction of lawn pH if necessary, complete lawn fertilization and seeding, overseeding and prolonged care of lawn. Also included extensive weed killing and brush removal, laying down of specialized chemicals to prevent weed growth, and mulching in specific areas, removal of 4 front rosebushes, trimming of 2 small flowering trees, trimming and shaping of hedges. Mulch was chosen from 4 samples provided by owner. We also discussed plan for further overseeding and lawn maintenance throughout fall. We stressed to the company the necessity to get the lawn taken care of and seeded immediately, so that it could be somewhat established before the intense heat of July. The owner stated that they would get started immediately and all of the work would a total of 2 days (although not back to back as the weeds needed time to die). We were extremely excited and promised further work if the project turned out well. That's when things started going poorly. Two months went by of us contacting the company every 7-10 days reminding them of the project. They would often promise to call back and not do so, promise to come by and not show up, or just not respond at all. It was extremely frustrating and disheartening. It threw off all of our remaining landscaping plans for the summer. As the heat approached, we became rather upset as NONE of the project had been started yet. We demanded that they begin the work. They finally turned up one day in the rain to tear out the rosebushes and install mulch. We were extremely grateful for them starting to begin the project and overlooked the fact that they did not use the mulch that we had chosen. We continued to beg them to do the seeding and the weeding/mulching of the back yard. One day, they showed up and spent an hour spraying the weeds. They did not return again for another 10days. They sprayed again for 1hr or less at that time. They finally returned again 2 weeks after the second spraying and spent a number of hours removing the dead weeds and laying mulch. Unfortunately, they never sprayed the weed preventer that they were supposed to spray, they used much more mulch than they had quoted us for (and still made us pay for all of it) and they laid half of the mulch in the wrong places (again, still making us pay for it) despite having gone over where the mulch was to be- in specific detail- 3 times. They also used the wrong mulch again. This work was completed right before July 4th........Three months after we had been told that they could start immediately and would take 2 days of work total. Unfortunately, the lawn had STILL not been aerated, fertilized or seeded. We continued to complain about this and finally, in mid-late July, the owner came out and seeded a small area of our lawn, then spread hay over it. He stated that this would be free as the grass was not expected to survive the heat. The remainder of the lawn was not overseeded. The grass did start to grow, but was eventually strangled by the hay that was never removed and killed by the heat. They promised to aerate, fertilize and seed it properly in the fall as per our contract. The company continued to provide lawn mowing services for the front and the patchy areas of the backyard. There was never a problem with this basic service. Come fall, they failed to aerate, fertilize or seed the lawn. This was despite numerous attempts to contact the company. On two occassions, the owner did respond stating he was busy at the time, but that he would call back later that day. He never did. At somempoint we requested leaf cleanup and removal which they stated they would do-they never did. By mid-November, we wrote them a letter, paid them (what we thought was) the final amount owed on our most recent bill and formerly discontinued services. In our letter, we explained the reason for discontinuation. We later received a bill stating that we still owed $340, but offering no apology or acknowledgement of our concerns. We paid the bill in full and washed our hands of the ordeal. As for positives, they were flexible with the payments. We sent them between $500-$1000 every 2-6weeks throughout the summer. Their billing system is strange, so we were never sure how much we owed. Nothing was ever due in full. We had intended to pay the bill in full in July when they finished the mulching project- but were unable to due to our dog being attacked and owing multiple thousands of dollars immediately to the Vet. The owner was very understanding and did not mind continuing to receive regular payments rather than one large sum- as they were providing regular lawn mowing services anyways. Overall, the landscaping project started out extremely promising. However, at the end- much of the work we had a contract for was never completed- or even started. The work that was done was done incorrectly and in significantly longer time period than is appropriate even for contracting work. Regardless, we still paid for EVERYTHING- even the work they never did, the work done incorrectly, and the excess mulch that we never authorized (we still have plenty of area that was supposed to be mulched but never was). The lack of responsiveness, punctuality and "care" was very disappointing. That being said, there was never an issue with their lawn mowing and edges services. While they may be appropriate for these services, we would never recommend using them for anything more than that very basic service.
