I have spent many years working as a general contractor including working for a commercial builder, kitchen and bath remodeling company, and property management company. I also previously owned and operated as a class a general contractor. I have experience in most areas of home repair. I am looking to slow down and focus on smaller projects with attention to giving clients quality services at reasonable prices.

"They were responsive to initial call, showed up when said, then nothing for a while, we had to call them a few times.  Then, they came back and did the work.  We were a little disappointed that they did not do the dry wall around the new installation.  They had told us they would do "everything."  so, now we are having to have the drywall done.  Also, the wall of the bath surround was not in true - a little off, making it hard to do the drywall.  Just little grumbles which I am sure we will overcome.
Otherwise, they were quick, efficient, clean and tidy.  They cleaned up after themselves.  A few weeks later, found a small crack in the new bathtub.  Nothing major, can be fixed, but was a little disappointing to see that."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, a fan can help drywall mud dry faster by improving air circulation and reducing humidity in the room. Drywall mud dries through evaporation, so increasing airflow speeds up this process. However, you should position the fan to blow across the room rather than directly on the wet mud. This helps prevent drying too quickly, which can cause cracking. You should also use a dehumidifier if high humidity is an issue.

Only use spackle on plaster walls when the imperfection is small. It’s best used for nail holes or small dings in the plaster. Spackle dries quickly, allowing you to continue the repair process shortly after using it. Plaster can be tricky to repair, though, so if you run into issues, call a pro so that you don’t risk further damage.

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.

While every home has its own unique needs, ceiling drywall installation typically follows a staggered or stepped pattern to enhance structural integrity and reduce the visibility of seams. Starting from one corner, sheets are placed perpendicular to the ceiling joists, with the ends of adjacent sheets meeting along the center of the joist. The next row begins with a half sheet, ensuring joints don't align vertically. This alternating pattern, combined with proper taping and mudding, creates a seamless appearance and strengthens the ceiling structure, minimizing the risk of cracks over time.

When doing a DIY paint job, it can be tricky to achieve the perfect, straight line between your wall and ceiling. There are several methods, including lining it with painter’s tape and using the “cut in” brush tactic. Some homeowners choose to apply a thin line of caulk to the wall-ceiling seam to create the appearance of a perfect line.
