"Mark along with the crew arrived on time to install a wooden privacy fence with walkable gate enclosing my backyard. After Mark went over the project, the crew removed the old fence, organized the materials, and systematically completed each task. A few more workers joined the crew, eventually leaving two to finish the job. By the end of the day, they were finished and cleaning up. I appreciated being consulted on site about clarifying my preference concerning the gate instead of doing “what’s standard”. Also, Mark was available by phone to answer a question, and came by the next day to go over the project with me. He even took care of a minor detail himself on the spot."

Customers say: Quality work

"Miguel came out and provided an estimate to repair/replace part of my fence blown down by recent high winds. His price was reasonable and he started work within one day after me agreeing to the estimate. All work was accomplished in one day and he cleaned up the area and removed all materials as provided on his estimate. He was both professional and prompt. His workmanship was great! I would definitely recommend him for this and other residential repairs."

"Team was very professional, personable, and skilled. They arrived promptly, erected my blown-over privacy fence and added a gate without damaging my large adjacent garden. The fence, which I feared had been destroyed by two windstorms, was reset expertly, solid and laser beam straight! Bravo! I did find one framing piece around the gate which was loose they sent someone out quickly and resolved the issue. I would hire them again!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

A chain-link fence does not lower your property value. However, chain links are not the most attractive materials—so it probably won’t raise the value either. If this is a concern, opt for wooden posts to provide visual flair and go with a color coating on your fence. Putting in a functional and attractive gate also helps up your resale value when installing a chain-link fence.

While cedar and pine are two of the most common wooden fence materials, everything from redwood to bamboo is also available. You can also purchase pressure-treated wood, which better withstands water damage and the threat of pests. The best wood for your fence will come down to your budget, local climate, and preferred look.

When it comes to materials, wire fences are the cheapest option. The average cost for a 150-foot wire fence is $1,350. The next cheapest material is chain-link, followed by wood.

As far as the style of fence, smaller, less private fences are cheaper than large, elaborate fences that block your whole yard. That’s why split-rail fences are the cheapest option for wooden fences. They cost roughly $10 to $30 per linear foot.

Green branches are more flexible and easier to work with, but they'll shrink as they dry, which can loosen your fence weave over time—so you'll need to weave them extra tight to account for shrinkage. Some species, particularly willow, may also try to sprout when used green. For these reasons, it’s typically easiest to use branches that have dried for a week or two.

How long a wood fence lasts depends on the type of wood and its style. The design of a shadow box fence makes it more durable than other fence types because the alternating pickets disperse the weight across the rails. As a result, you won’t have to worry as much about sagging or failing pickets. However, remember that the hollow design of a shadow box fence makes it more difficult to apply the sealer, which is crucial to extending its life.
