"Chad was great to work with. He came out and explained my options with respect to just changing out my heat pump versus replacing both the outside unit and replacing the backup gas furnace. Joe and Jake came out and professionally installed my new units along with putting in a new hot water heater. They worked on the install until late evening and did a very good job. They cleaned up after themselves and left the job site in pristine condition. I will definitely use Virginia Carolina Heating and Cooling for any air or heating problems in the future. They were very honest and hardworking people that I highly recommend."

"Working with James Martin and his staff at Air Advantage LLC has been an absolute pleasure. The work they did to my 1930's home is remarkable and was no easy feat. He designed and he and his staff completely installed a Heat Pump, all of the duct-work, venting, and return. The whole kit and kaboodle - I cannot be more thrilled with their work ethic, customer service, transparency, and the ability to take feedback. With my project they faced many challenges and rose to each of them without complaint. My crawlspace/hand-dug basement is particularly spider webbie and not an ideal space to spend several days. He was my advocate as a homeowner and offered the reassurance and guidance any homeowner should have. His "helpers," (as anyone knows, really the backbone) were kind, courteous, mannerly, and responsive - very warm individuals that convey trustworthiness as does James. James was very hands-on, fabricating all of of my custom duct work, and was communicative. His is also it seems a great boss - that is fantastic. I had a meltdown at 3:00 a.m. and James responded to an email before I could even wipe the sleep from my eyes. They were kind to my pets and tolerant - James saved my 15 year old dog's life, and his assistant was there in a flash during a totally freak incident. WOW! JUST WOW! I am a single woman with some background in the professional electrical industry and I can tell and will tell anyone, that this operation is a class act. I highly recommend them - I will be endeavoring in a large renovation project soon and will absolutely hire them for modifications and expansions. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe my experience with these guys. They were $4000 lower than one of the "Big Guys" in the Blue Ridge - and I know that my system is far superior, installed with care, and with honesty about what I did and did not need. Hire them! You will not regret it!"

"HVAC EVOLUTIONS services technician Mynor Morales was very promt and friendly in his services. He arrived within the hour I had contacted his company when my furnace suddenly stopped working the day before a very large storm was to hit our area.  After finding the problem he was able to get the part and install it without delay. I found him to not only be helpful and fair but honest, which is pleasantly surprising  sometimes in this industry especially when you are faced with  a sudden emergency. Instead of calling the big names I took my friends recommendation and called HVAC EVOLUTION Home Appliance Repair Heating and Cooling Services.  I was very glad I did and will certainly not only pass the referral on but I will also feel good about calling them in the future.

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can clean AC coils yourself. Just make sure that the power to your AC system is off before you begin. You’ll need some basic tools and supplies, including a soft brush, cloth, screwdriver, and a commercial or homemade cleaning solution. Cleaning your coils will only cost about $10.

Dry mode positively impacts indoor air quality by reducing excess moisture, which stops the growth of mold and mildew. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, dry mode creates a less hospitable environment for allergens and airborne pathogens, improving overall air quality. However, it's essential to ensure proper ventilation to prevent stale air accumulation.

Running an air conditioner with mold is not safe because it can spread harmful mold spores throughout your home. Exposure to these spores can trigger various health problems, including respiratory issues, allergies, coughing, wheezing, sneezing, itchy eyes, and a sore throat. It may also aggravate asthma in household members. Continued exposure can increase the risk of more serious illnesses like sinus infections, pneumonia, and bronchitis. If you suspect mold in your air conditioner, you should stop using the system until it has been properly cleaned to avoid health risks and further contamination.

Yes. In fact, not only are AC tuneups worth it, but they’re actually necessary to keep your air conditioner in good condition, improve its efficiency, and potentially prevent major damage. Experts recommend getting a tuneup at least once per year. In most cases, you’ll want to schedule it during the spring so that you can address any issues before the hottest months of the year.

When faced with HVAC issues, it's best to begin by ensuring the thermostat settings are correct for either heating or cooling. If the system isn't responding, check the thermostat for proper function and power supply. It's also important to examine air filters, as clogged ones can decrease performance. Confirm the power supply to the system by checking the circuit breakers and fuses. If these basic steps fail to resolve the issue, contact an HVAC professional for a more detailed diagnosis and repair.
