"I was so impressed with Wilber and his employees that in addition to painting our deck, I also hired him to pressure wash our deck and fence, replace the lattice on our pergola, as well as perform some other minor wood work. His responsiveness, quality of work and price were all excellent and would be hard to match. I have already referred him to several others in our neighborhood and look forward to hiring him again in the future!"

"I had a great experience with Advanced Painting. Steven (Owner), responded promptly to my request for services and came out to assess the project the next day. He provided a timely detailed cost estimate that included painting my home interior and exterior, replacing exterior wood trim, and repairing/staining the deck to ensure it was structurally safe. He also kept me well-informed of the status of the project each day. The work crew was courteous, friendly and tidy. They did a great job protecting the furniture, doors and windows. The house looks wonderful. I really appreciate the care and attention given to my home; and the cost was reasonable. I would certainly use this company again."

"Emerson and his team did a superb job repairing and prepping my garage walls and ceiling for painting. They were on time and throughly cleaned up the area daily. The finished job was fantastic. Their price was reasonable and I will use them again for my next painting project. I highly recommend them."

"Quality of work appears very good and work ethic of the roofing team was very good -- worked very hard and long hours with few breaks even in high heat and humidity. And the price seemed very reasonable compared to other quotes I received. I would use them again. Only 3 complaints, only the first of which I would consider serious. 1. Scheduling (which I rated above as punctuality, since there was no scheduling category) -- This past spring was a busy time for roofers due to the bad storms, and it was a bit rainy, so I fully understand and appreciate why it took many weeks to get me scheduled. What is unacceptable, though, is that I felt as if I was being misled and strung along regarding the installation date. Specifically, I was initially given an estimated installation date, depending on weather, of about 3 weeks out from when I signed the contract (and sent them a substantial deposit), but I was assured that it would not be any later than one month out. The week before the month was up, I called and was given some reason why it would be another couple weeks. That went by, and then a couple more weeks (at this point weather was fine and no longer an issue), and, then a couple more weeks until finally I blew up and accused them of 'bait and switch' -- I complained that it seemed to me that they had never intended to do my work within a month or even within 2 months of receiving my deposit -- it felt like they were stringing me along rather than giving me a realistic date upfront. A couple days later I got a firm date the following week and the work was done. In all, it was well over 2 months from when I signed the contract until when they installed. 2. Care for my Property -- The method they used for removing the old roof resulted in some minor property damage. Flying shingles damaged two window screens and resulted in some minor marring of the finish on the side of my new deck and on the painted trim on my house, and some slight damage to my mailbox. Not a huge deal. 3. Clean up. For the most part they did a great job cleaning up the high volume of debris. And they did pick up virtually all of the hundreds of nails that came off the old roof. However, they missed a few nails in the driveway (probably that had rolled under their truck) that could have been bad news for my tires had I not been anal about sweeping up after they left."

"It went well. Mario came out promptly to access the damage to my basement and gave me an estimate that was within my budget. The work was scheduled and completed within a week. The guys Antonio and Daniel repaired drywall, baseboards, shoe molding and replaced the vinyl flooring in the bathroom. They also painted two large walls. The guys did an excellent job matching the stain on the shoe molding. And I just love the bathroom floor...what a great job. The job was scheduled to be finished in one day but they had a problem finding the shoe molding that matched. They were back the day and all is well. What a great job guys. I will definitely use their services again."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wet-sanding and dry-sanding each have pros and cons. Dry-sanding is less messy, so it’s a good option if you’re trying to minimize dust (for example, if you’re sanding an occupied home or working with particularly dry or dusty drywall mud). However, dry-sanding is quicker because you don’t have to keep rinsing a sponge or wait for it to dry before painting.

Painted decks typically require a new coat about once every ten years. In between new coats, it's best to maintain your deck by regularly removing debris, washing it down with non-abrasive cleaners, and staying ahead of structural issues, such as loose boards and rotting wood. In some cases, painting a small section of your deck affected by damage or the sun can lower your costs and workload.

You should seal your deck every one to two years, but you’ll also need to clean and repair your wood deck throughout the seasons. You may want to hire a local house cleaning service to sweep and clean the deck thoroughly. These cleaning services cost around $50 per hour.

Inspect your deck at least once a year, and if you notice any damage or rot, expect to spend about $10 to $50 for simple DIY fixes or about $2,000 for professional repairs on more extensive damage.

The longevity of paint on wood depends on factors like the quality of the paint, surface preparation, exposure to elements, and maintenance. Exterior paint on wood surfaces can last 5 to 15 years or more with proper care and maintenance. Interior paint tends to have a longer life span, often 10 years or more. Regular cleaning, touch-ups, and addressing any issues like peeling or cracking can extend the life of the paint.

Yes, beginners can use a paint sprayer, but there is a learning curve. It's important to go slowly, read the instructions thoroughly, and spend some time learning the technique. Watching tutorial videos for your specific paint sprayer model can be very helpful. Before starting your main project, practice on a scrap surface to get used to the sprayer and avoid common issues like overspraying, which can cause drips, bubbles, and other imperfections. For safety, always wear a mask and gloves, and be careful not to touch the sprayer's tip when it's in use, particularly with high-powered airless sprayers.
