Customers say: True professional

"I gave them a 4.5 on quality of work only because of the way they wired up my pump. If they had taken an extra 2 seconds they could have tucked the wiring behind pipes and other wires to make it a neater job. Instead they wired it over the pipes and wrapped it around another wire. Eventually I'll reroute the wire. That was my only complaint and it's very minor. Jeff was awesome to work with. I had a very pleasant experience with him. He was quick to respond and he even came back when I texted him about a leak in the pipe. It was immediately addressed and resolved. I do highly recommend Radon Specialists!"

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Radon is present almost everywhere but, like sunlight, the concentration levels and how often you are exposed to it have a large part to play in just how dangerous it is. There are levels of radon that are acceptable inside a house, but above a certain limit, radon becomes a serious radioactive hazard that is a known cause of lung cancer. In fact, radon exposure is the number two leading cause of lung cancer (after smoking).

Long-term exposure increases lung cancer risks. Prolonged homestay individuals and smokers encounter heightened vulnerability and exposure concerns.

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

Installing a mitigation system reduces radon levels, which can cause lung cancer, providing peace of mind and long-term health benefits. It can also increase your home’s value, as many buyers prefer properties with radon safety measures in place. The investment is relatively low compared to the potential health risks associated with prolonged radon exposure.
